I know that the PSRSQ16 was released before general midi was fully ratified, however,I understand that there is a procedure to follow in order to load Midi files into this keyboard. I would like to know how to do this. Also, I have the MDF2 Yamaha file player Midied to this keyboard. Is it possible to Play midi files from this unit to the PSRSQ16? I learned of this instrument being none general midi about 2 weeks after purchasing my PSR730, which is quite a nice keyboard. Thank you to anyone who can
help with this situation.

Hi There!

I haven't used the SQ16 for four years, but from memory you need to set the module into general midi mode. It is an option on the left hand side (I think??). Yamaha were very silly with the general midi on the SQ16 as it doesn't support all of the GM sounds. I think the only sounds missing are the sound effects voice 120-127. Which is not a major problem for 98% of GM files. Please remember that you CAN NOT use HD disks in the SQ16 like you can in the 730.

Brad.
