Here is a brief outline on how to get started in making a style from a MIDI file.

Load MIDI file (GM/GM2 to NX will load Technics voices)

Listen to the file and note the measures you want to copy and determine the number of steps to transpose to the key of C.

Press Mixer and note Track numbers and instruments

Press Program Menu

Press Composer

Press Seq to Composer Copy

Enter first and last measure for first Pattern or Intro

Transpose to C

Select Tracks for all parts

Press OK (Your selection will be in the Composer.)

Considerations: Look for section that don’t change key. Measures and additional parts can be added in the Composer.

Have fun,

Frank

FRANK....

Thank you for your post..... How about coming over to S.E. NM to give me a "Show & Tell" lesson on this procedure? Or....
let me park my Motor Home at your place in Avila Beach for awhile for the Show & Tell?

I could see my Uncle while I am there too!
I had forgotten that you lived there until I looked at your profile this morning!

Hugs, Elizabeth

Hi Tony,
Once you get the elements of a style in the Composer you can increase the number of measures up to sixteen. This is great, because you can add counter melodies for example starting in the third measure and maybe another starting in the fifth measure. As a result you have a less mechanical sounding style. And of course you have the possibility of adding a solo of up to 16 measures.

Well Elizabeth,
I'll a little shaky about traveling these days. But, I've had many visitors from all over the world stop by to visit and jam and meet my music club pals. It would be great to see you, so give it some thought.
