I have just got the music to 'you raise me up' Westlife's big hit and just wondering has anyone got an idea of what kind of celtic registration i could use similar to that solo on Westlife's CD. It's like a bagpipe or similar - any ideas?.
Thanks. Chris.

Chris,

The solo is played on Uilleann pipes.
A lot of Irish traditional bands use them.
In all my years of programming and playing
various keyboards I have never came across
one with this sound. Its a mixture of sound
and performance.Meaning you need pedals,touchpads,breath controller etc,to
even come near.

Cheers Barry

Chris

forgive me if I am telling you something you already know but the SY-EW02NX expansion card has Celtic sounds. Uillean pipes feature on this card and also my favourite, Atlantic Lament.
I appreciate that this will only give you the lead voice so you will have to find a style to suit.

Hope this helps
Alan

there were Uillian Pipes on the EW02 sound card, including Tenor, Baritone, Bass, Chanter and Drone examples as well as some other Gaelic and Celtic lead voices.
