Hello,
I own a KN800 keyboard and I am looking for conversion programs to convert General midi or styles from newer keyboards to the KN800.
I Have checked out several sites also EMC style works, they do convert but from kn800 to newer but not the other way around.
anybody any suggestions how to do that or where to find such information or software?
Thanks in advance
regards
Ronald

Aren't the KN1000 and KN750 the same format as the KN800?
If so... EMC styleworks will convert in my version..

I have yet a Kn800 with a lot of software that I bought new and I recall that when the KN1000 came out it was totally different from the KN800.
I also recall working directly with Technics Engineers in Boston, by long distance because the KN800 would not do Midi. They burnt three new roms for me to install before it would MIDI.

The KN800 was never GM midi. However, the EMC
(before v2000) could convert GM midifiles to
be played as Technics songs in sequencer.
I don't remember if I ever did that for the KN800,
but I sure did a lot for the KN1000, and it sounded
and worked great, even the drums, who was the big
problem before KN2000 came.

Happy playing.

Btw,
I also got the updating roms from my dealer, nothing
special just the standard bug-upgrades from Japan
that, as far as I know, everybody at the time got.

Thanks for the replies sofar,
I have written to EMC styleworks a few days ago but no answer yet. I tried the trail of SW 2000 but no luck. I am trying to figure out what type of midi is in the kn800(0,1,2) etc. en what is exactly the difference between GM and midi. Since GM can be changed in style works what I have to do to make it readable by the kn800.
If somebody has an old version of software or styleworks or update disks for the kn800 as Gunnar wrote, I would apreciate if I could get a copy by email, even a trail or demo would do as long as I can begin to understand how everything works. I am new to this.
I bought my kn800 and also a casio midi guitar(mg 510) new in the beginning of the 90's in Japan when I was living there. However still had to learn how to play, I only played a bit of accoustic guitar and was only looking for a rythm box or so. But this seemed the better option.
Since shortly I do have some time and foud programs as smartscore, finale 2004 and Guitar pro, I can finale start to use and learn to play. But now then the connection problem of GM and kn800 midi.
Any advice will be welcome.
Thanks and regards
Ronald

Ronald,
I have just sent you an email with an indepth factual report on the KN800 and included a zip file of KN800 styles and registrations for you to try out. I can also send you some KN800 songs if you want them but bear in mind the KN800 did not save midi files you could play on other insturments but only allowed you to play Instruments samples in other workstations that we all used at that time.
Hope this helps you out.
