Here is some info on the technics progression of instuments I found on the web
TECHNICS

Technics has come to the keyboard scene for only a short time. It first started out with its first in the world for the production of the electronic organ model SX-601 in 1963.That is for the electronic organ and not for the keyboard, not until the debut of the SX-U90,the PCM Organ with applied rhythm and 4-channel sound system when the premiere of the SX-K200,the first Technics single keyboard started to roll out. This is more to the home user market and it comes with auto accompaniment and
a fixed preset sound with its own memory packs to store sound setting.Technics keyboard did not start out good in the market for it only manage to capture the home user and still is strieving hard because Casio and Yamaha give a very strong competition to it. An out-come that should be expected by Technics for both Casio and Yamaha has been into the home keyboard market for a long time already.
Not until quite some time a lap of 7 years that Technics rolled out its first synthesizer keyboard, the SX-AX7 in 1988. This synthesizer keyboard comes with a new PCM2 sound source where by it is different from the PCM source which is implemented on the earlier Technics musical instruments. At the beginning PCM sound cannot be modify or edit and it is normally comes with a factory preset. With this new PCM2 source the sound of the preset instrument sound can be modify and edit. After 3 years Technics launched another breakthrough with its Dynamic PCM feature in the SX-KN1000 model keyboard in 1991. These Dynamic PCM feature create the trills of a live performance which is demonstrated in the 4th Technics World Music Festival held in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia the same year. This model featured some of the finest programmable rhythm, accompaniment, and also sequencer function. The sound of this model can also be edit and modify using ADSR and a few type of modulation effect. Right from there immerse a few flagship model of Technics keyboard that is well represented by its improvement and especially for the user-friendliness.
After the KN1000 there comes a few substitute like the KN2000 in 1993 with a large user-friendly display screen of 320 x 240 dots LCD and 64 note polyphony. After a span of 3 years comes KN3000 in 1995, a PCM keyboard with TVF, Aftertouch and the new Dynamic Acoustics which is psycho-acoustic by using DSP(Digital Signal Processing). On this same year the first Technics SX-WSA1 synthesizer with a 64 notes polyphonic which uses Physical Modeling method sound manipulation was launch. Then in 1997 rolled out the new model which consist of a really great gap in terms of technology as well as new features. This model the KN5000 a skip from the numbering of 3000 to 5000 has the first in the world for its color display of 320 x240 dots LCD. It also has a lyrics display function, mixer and vocalist workstation support.
TECHNICS KN6000

This newest model of Technics is expected to be launch in the month of September 1999. It will comes with a new Arranger, that is to say with additional parts apart from the normal 5 parts composer with the previous model. It will have a new sound generator, design, controllers and display screen. It will also house an additional touch function beside the touch and after touch tone sensitivity, which is the function of more difficult or heavier touch sensitivity. In additional to that is will comes with a user-friendly power management that will suit the player. That is to say it will be package with a lot of additional feature when compare with the previous model. When this write-out is written the above mention KN6000 is not officially out yet so the true picture of it will be refine later. The research of it is taken from all sources around the world and is consider a reliable information that I can't mention here.

Do you know why the series was: 1000, 2000, 3000, NO4000, 5000, 6000, (6500), 7000?

In other words, why wasn't there a KN4000? I think I know!

Because 4 is an unlucky number in Japanese culture. We have the same thing in the broadcast industry. A range of digital videotape machines manufactured by Panasonic and Sony ran in the range D1, D2, D3, D5......
