Is it me or are the Ketron modules too closely priced to the keyboard versions??

Let's take the SD3 as an example,
selling around $2,100 base
The SD5 sells around $2,300

only a $200 difference, you kidding?

all those keys, speakers, keyboard case etc, worth only $200?

i think there should be more price difference between keyboard and module

if basic SD5 is $2,300,
then module should be at least $500 cheaper.
that would be a good incentive to buy/sell more modules.
$1,800 at MAX for SD3 module in my opinion

i can bet that Ketron has sold 3x the SD5's as did SD3's, if not more

if SD3 was cheaper, they would still sell same amount of SD5's as they do now and probably twice the amount of SD3's

i would buy SD3 if cheaper, as i don't need more keyboards...

just my opinion, if that matters...

what you guys think?

The cost difference is in the 'cosmetic' difference, keys and amplification.

The SD3 and SD5 (as an example) do share identical circuit boards (minus keyboard controller ICs on CPU board and amplification circuit on aux. power circuit board), but minus that, they are the same.

We'll see about an AUDYA 'module'. Let's get AUDYA out there first.

Thanks,

AJ

I Quite agree with your comments leezone!
SD5 & SD3 are brilliant pieces of kit but the module should definitely be cheaper. Even worse is the fact that only a floppy drive is included on standard model, (no USB - which is a great drawback) so you have to go for the Hard Drive version which is £200 (UK) more expensive. My local PC World store will sell me a similar sized hard drive for peanuts. I've been a Solton/Ketron fan for many years and very much want an SD3 to replace my Solton MS40 but it hurts to see a company throwing sales away by following an unrealistic price formulae - SD3 needs both a price cut AND Hard Drive including as standard. £1400 (UK) for SD3-HD is the maximum they can fairly ask (especially with a recession upon us) and, until then, I will hang onto my money. By the way, some dealers for Ketron products would be helpful too - none in the UK.
Best wishes,
Tony, SHEFFIELD
