Okay, this board has been pretty dead lately. What I'm interested in knowing is, how many people are here who own Roland JV/XP/XV gear and what they have. Tell us who you are and what you have. This will give us an idea of how many people are here who have Roland JV/XP/XV gear.

This would also help us realize how much potential help we could have (being that we know how many people are at our disposal).

I'll start - I'm epu. I have a Roland XP60 with the Hip-Hop,Bas& Drums,Orchestral and Exp. II cards. I also have an SC880.

The Infamous EPU.

Does a old JV880 count still?
It's had an orchestra board fitted, and even has cards in it's PCM slot (a piano card), and a in it's Data card slot (rich sound collection 2).
I've a friend who also uses a 880 out live, with the pop baord fitted.

I've a JD990, which is a serious bit of kit.
It can read JV80 cards, but everyone went the 1080 route.
With the 990., and the 880, I think I've a 1080 and some.

That's about all I've got to say...

Dave (Ambient/Dance music hobbie-ist)

XP60 With Session, Hip Hop, Vintage and SFX,

Exp II is sitting in the wings. Happy to trade it for the EXP III.

Groovy combination.

May want to get the Orch 1 soon.

Ive got a XV5080 + a JD990, the 2 best modules in the universe IMHO.

The 990 is still my favorite. It is just so raw, but to me is also capable of incredible warmth for a rompler. Also, I still find it quicker to choose from 195 waveforms rather than bloody thousands. The editing is faster, but it aint got the polyphony, multitimbral power, range of effects the XV has. Filters are more "analogue" as well, ie they dont cause permanent ear damage when you sweep them at maximum settings! The filters are imho better than the JP8000.

The XV5080 is great at smooth sounds and does sound clean as a whistle. Effects are the dogs, as is the ability to chuck wavs at it.

Anyway I could go on but I wont!

Cheers

I'm Bas,
I own an XP-30.
It's connected to a Soundblaster Live, which I use ase a sampler. The XP is the workhorse.
I'd Like to buy either a Keyboards ot 60's & 70's expansion or a Bass & Drums Board, or both, but they're way too XPensive right now.

I am Greg.
I own the 3080, Srx Contemporary Acoustic Piano and Vintage expansion. That acoustic piano is absolutely the best, IMO.
I also have a Triton (sorry epu) 61 key with the vintage board and Moss. And an eMu Xl-1 with the techno construction board.
So much to play with it seems sinful.

Hi, I'm Popo, Caracas,Venezuela.
I own an XV-88, recently bought it, but I got a little trouble with it...I know this is not the topic, but I'll be very happy if someone who knows(owns) this synth could give me a little help(just email me), since this is a Roland community people reading this. Besides that, I'm very happy with it, I have it connected to a Tascam US-428 and then to a Mac G4, running Cubase VST/4.1, hoping to get Digital Performer 2.7 soon.
(I have a Topic posted titled "XV-88 Patch Finder trouble" in this Forum)

Hello, JV/XP/XV users...

I´m Mgomes, São Paulo, Brazil.
I´m using JV1010, so, the 1st board is, of course, Session (very good) and the second is Experience II. Also I have the discontinued Dance board. Maybe I get a bigger JV or XP to fit all boards at same time. Right now the XVs are too expensive ...

EPU:
Nice concept...stirring up the works a little. I'm almost afraid to ask - are there more active Roland Synth forums elsewhere?

I have a Yamaha minikeyboard (my sibs gave it to me for last Christmas, beginning an obsession currently careening out of control) and a JV-1010. Since I have considerably better writing than keyboard-playing chops, both are driven by a bailing-wire-and-bubble-gum W98 computer (my son and I built both ours from parts) running Noteworthy Composer. I play guitar, and mostly sing, along with my sequences.

I have a MOTU MIDI patch panel on the way to help manage the dozens of other modules I intend to buy soon...as soon as the wife gives me my credit card back.
