Looks like the module version of the DW-8000, a very fun and 80s machine. What will it do for your Roland? Which model? It won't make it envious, I'm sure...No, to find more technical about it get info on the DW-8000 if you can't find any on the EX.Lotsa links from this site, Virtual Synth Museum,Harmony Central, Synthony, etc...mn

Yep, it's the module version of the DW-8000 and it came out in 1985 . It's a cool digital analogue hybrid with sampled waves and analogue filters . It wont do anything for your ROLAND ( doesn't matter what it is ) , it is a very cool synthesizer module with no help from ROLAND or any others . It's worth keeping . If you can find the MEX-8000 , it will expand it's program memory .

Thanks for the info. I'm very new to the synthworld. The Roland I have is the MKB300 MIDI Controller, which I found out isn't really a synth at all. Anyway, I'm learning a whole lot. Both the Roland and the KORG were gifts, so I believe anything is better than nothing, to start. Anyone know when the MKB300 came out?

What I really want is a KORG Triton. Oh well, milk before meat?????????

Again, Thanks for the replies..

The MKB-300 came out in 1985 , it's the 76 key version of the MKB-1000 . It's part of ROLAND's first MIDI line up along with the JX-3P , JX-8P , JUPITER-6 , JUNO-106 , TR-909, MKS-80 , MKS-70 , and MKS-10 and MKS-30 .

The MEX-8000 is a great way to store four extra banks for either the EX or DW8000.
