I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN X5D AND WANTED TO CONNECT TO MY COMPUTER. WILL I NEED A MIDI INTERFACE OR SOMETHING, OR JUST A SINGLE CORD FROM KEYBOARD TO COMPUTER?
AT THE MOMENT I DON'T HAVE ANY SEQUENCER SOFTWARE, WILL THIS AFFECT MY CONNECTION QUESTION DEPENDING ON THE SOFTWARE I END UP USING?
I HAVE A SBLIVE VALUE SOUNDCARD, 128RAM & 500MHZ CELERON

I connect through a midi interface but you can connect directly. You should read your manual to make sure you have the right cable. After it is connected, you do need a sequencing software program. I recommend Cakewalk for a newbie. You can buy a used version for around $25 at Harmony Central classifieds.

You can go either route using MIDI or PCIF. You may want to go the MIDI route for future expansion options. Get the cable that WS suggested.
