Can someone suggest a good pair of floor standing tower speakers for listening to audio ?

If you could find some Klpish KLF series speakers I think you would be very very pleased. I have KLF 20's and have found nothing in their price range I like better.

The list price was $1500 -

Not exactly a tower speaker, but once you get them on their stands, they image better than most anything out there, I'd have to pick the Monitor Audio One. A pair will run you less than 800$

Generally, old AR's have good build quality. I had a pair of AR-7's once. They were hideously inefficient, but I had a sub, so they were okay in that setup. Modern AR's are throwaway junk.

You could always go with a JBL 112 or JBL L26. There are a million of those. The 112 is the old standard for monitoring rooms.

Or, if imaging is important, The ENERGY Excel of canada is nearly as good as the Monitor audio model one. And they are reasonable and pop up on ebay all the time. That's their bottom of the line. Their XL-150 promises better imaging. I got a soft spot for the Excel's as they are superb.
