Bill,

I was able to get a good deal through Erie Insurance Exchange. Less than $100 a year for everything, all hazards, including a drunk with a pitcher of beer. Mine has a $200 deductable, which I consider fairly low.

We used to get our insurance through the Musicians Union.

I got a 'rider policy' for my music equipment added to my home insurance.

Scott...does the rider policy cover the equipment when it's in a club or restaurant? Some only cover in your home, car, etc.

Everyone:...does the insurance you're getting cover replacement cost or is it coverage based on annual equipment depreciation?

Thanks,

Russ

Russ....you can get it to cover any situation you desire....as long as you pay for it.
Around here you need $1,000,000 to $2,000,000 liability Insurance plus equipment coverage for most highend Banquet halls mandatiory for Bands/DJ's. They all ask for yoru certificate before you play.

Donny-

http://www.rvnuccio.com/ seems to be targeting DJ's moreso than actual musicians. I read their details and all the wording refers to DJ...

Do you know for a fact they work with guys like me?

Sorry - I regard myself as a "mobile entertainer", which they also refer to musos as. Have keyboard, will travel...

The insurance offered by R.V. Nuccio & Associates, Inc. looks promising, especially because you can also get liability coverage. You can't get liability insurance with a homeowner's insurance rider and that's actually your greatest threat - if a drunk trips over one of your cables trying to get to the stage to make a song request, they can sue you for far more than your equipment or your gig will ever be worth. And as already mentioned, it's mandantory for some events.

If purchased prior to the end of the year this insurance would make a dandy little tax deduction for '04. Looks like a necessary evil.
