Hello to you all!
This is my first posting, although I’ve been reading this site for a long time. Your thoughts and comments helped me a lot in exploring arranger keyboard world. In the past I used strictly synths with sounds only for gigs with live bands.
I got stuck between SD1 and 9000 PRO and now I look for those slight differences that will give one of them the advantage. In store near me I can test 9000 PRO but I can’t get my hands on SD1 so I would like to ask those lucky guys that have tested both arrangers in details if they could help me with following questions:
1. 9000 PRO harmonizer has about 60 different harmony types prepared. How many are there on SD1?
2. One or more tracks from a midi file can be assigned to 9000 PRO vocoder to sing along with main vocal. Can this be done on SD1 vocoder?
3. A second sound can be faded in or out with a pedal. For example while playing a piano sound on 9000 PRO, a string sound can softly be added or removed with a pedal when needed. Can SD1 do that? For me this is a very useful feature.

When I have one of those two, I’ll be glad to share my experiences with you.
Thank you for any information.
Luka

Luka,

I'll try to answer your questions...
(1) SD1 comes with 16 harmonizer presets in memory called Vocal Sets. In addition, unlimited number of Vocal Sets can be created and saved in it's internal hard disk.
(2) Yes.
(3) SD1 supports up to 4 layered sounds using their Program Sounds. Each sound can react to different controllers. It can faded in or out with a volume pedal, or respond to sustain & pitchbend differently. For example, My Piano/String combo would have sustain on piano only and volume pedal on string only. So the string can fade in and out and my piano sustain does not affect the string.

Just to add to Henry O's comments . You can add a 5th sound to any layered combinations you create .
Another great thing about Sd1 and X1 for that matter is how Ketron uses the onboard harddrive . It is superior to what Yamaha is doing . Many user friendly features with the Sd1 . Go for it ... Dan o

Luka,

We've had the 9000PRO versus SD1 discussion on previous posts. These posts list tons of information on effects, features, and flaws. A repeat of all of it would be pointless but if you really want info on these keyboards, you should read the previous posts.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to find them on this forum . . . maybe some can help (anyone?).

Steve

This should be the link to the topic Steve was referring to; it was posted by Scott Yee last February: http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/001265.html

When you logon to anyone of these forum's at the top of the page is a box you can set it from one day to all last year or all posts.
You can click on preferences just above the box to set it to as many days as you want. Then when you log on it will cover postings for that many days. I set mine on 30 days.
All the Best,
Nobby
