It is the Real McCoy as they say. If you notice look carefully at the different buttons. There ARE three Intro and three Ending buttons now. The Multipad buttons are laid out different. Some of the buttons on LCD are DIFFERENT than the Tyros LCD so it couldn't simply be a paste of the Tyros' LCD. Notice if you will the area where the Floppy Drive is. Guess what? It doesn't look like a Floppy Drive to me it looks like (and I pray it is) a Smart Media Card slot. Although my real preference would have been an "SD - Secure Digital" Card slot. But I will be happy if it's only SM. The only thing that gives me a little reservation about this photo is you know where it says PSR 3000 just under the PSR 2000/2100's insignia it lists all the file formats of that particular Board. But the PSR 3000 photo doesn't display that info. Maybe Yamaha was in a rush to get the photo posted and it was an oversight OR Yamaha hasn't yet decided or finalized yet all of the File formats it WILL support and be implemented into the PSR 3000. Here you go:

Now start looking closely at the different buttons and you will see this is no doctored photo: http://keybplayer.tripod.com/PSR-3000.jpeg

Best regards,
Mike

Looks like the real McCoy to me! George, assuming you'll be among the first U.S. dealers to have one in stock, we'll be looking for your unbiased reviews sometime in the near future.

Happy New Year,

Gary

For the sake of your Browser and for having to scroll back and forth I'll just post the link to my photo of the PSR 3000. If you use Windows XP you can expand the photo further by mousing over the photo and near the right side click the "Expand" icon to show the normal size.

Thanks George for comfirming my impression of the photo.

Terry you're a riot!! LOL That's funny. They sure didn't waste ANY space on the PSR 3000 - which is a good thing IYAM.

Best regards,
Mike

Sylion: MANY thanks for posting the 'for real' picture of the PSR3000. Terrific cosmetic design & layout. This looks to be a natural PSR2100 upgrade progression, basically adding a color LCD, dedicated intro (3)/ending (3) buttons, megavoices, with the Tyros' more sleek anglar (vs rounded) design lines, all squeezed into the body of a PSR2000/21000 sized shell, and with absolutely no wasted real estate! It also appears that the mic gain/trim knob remain on the back of the keyboard as in the PSR2100. The speakers even look a tad larger (possibly providing even better sound) than the PSR2000/2100. The BIG question remains is whether the PSR3000 will retain the same keys (flimsy) & feel (spongy) as its 2000/2100 predesessor. I hope not. The other BIG question is whether the PSR3000 is going to include a FLASH ROM OS or not. This was advertised & listed as included in the Yamaha PSR2000 literature, but then suddenly omitted (without notice). It will be interesting to see what Yamaha does with the PSR3000. I expect the PSR3000 to include USB connectivity as the 2100 has, so would think that a Flash ROM OS would only make sense for convenient user downloadable OS updates, and a cost saving
measure for Yamaha.

BTW: News flash: Just sold my PSR2000 (to a friend who lives locally), and part of the agreement is that I can borrow it back in the event of a gig emmergency if ever my Tyros should go out unexpectantly. Without the 2000, I'm now pretty certain I'm going to be getting the PSR3000 when it hits the shores of California. It looks to be an good onboard speaker ultra lightweight small package arranger keyboard solution. If Yamaha implements both the Tyros' keys and a hard drive, compact flash (or other mass storage device) in the PSR3000, it would be pure PERFECTION! I love dreaming.

I have a LONG night ahead of me. See you all next year (tomorrow) . . . Happy New Year 2004 to all !

Scott

I guess I'm in the minority, but I love the keys on the 2000-2100. I do wish they were full size, but they are so easy to play. No hard pushing as is necessary on piano keys.
Takes all kinds, huh?

I'm looking at the pictures of both the 1500 and the 3000. They look exactly the same except that the display on the 1500 is not a color display. Both display lyrics and notation. The 1500 is 96 note polyphony compared to 128. Organ modeling on both. 793 voices including sweet and cool on the 1500. Sweet, Col and Mega voices on the 3000.210 styles on the 1500 vs 240 styles on the 3000. 16 track sequencer (32 tracks over usb) on both. Smart media slot on both. Direct to Internet connection on both. USB "to device" to connect USB storage devices (thumb drives, FDDs, etc.). video out on the 3000. 2 MB flash rom user storage on the 3000 (I don't know what is on the 1500 (probably 1/2) ). On the 3000 "you also get the styles from the tyros and new ones including styles targeted directly to the US worship market."

hey George ---

does this (the 3000 brochure) mean we can't expect a 76 key arranger from Yamaha at NAMM?

thanks in advance...and happy new year everybody!
