Hi all. I've just received this months Organ and Keyboard cavalcade here in the UK.
I was pleased to read that there is going to be a new upgrade pack for the Tyros 2. It states that this upgrade pack was designed and programmed by UK Yamaha artistes, Glyn Madden, Richard Bower, Tony Pegler and James Sargeant. It features over 300 new professional sound setups, exciting new features and much more.
Also mentioned is a new Tyros 2 Custom System which states will enable every home keyboard and organ enthusiast to tailor their T2 to their own specific playing style and requirements, although many of us have already done this months ago so no idea what this offers.
These new features are debuting at the Pakefield festival and the magazine states if you can't attend then ring Yamaha.
I rang Yamaha today, got through to sales and nobody knew anything about this, but they took my name and number so hopefully someone will ring back. I guess it's all hush hush until it's been shown at Pakefiled.
Is this a free update or do we have to pay for it eg. via the IDC connection, no idea?
Just thought I'd share this info for those who don't subscribe to the magazine with fellow T2 owners. It sounds promising.

Hi Craig,

sounds exciting.
Please do keep us posted.
Also about any news whether this is going to be world wide or just for the European market as it has been sometimes in the past.

Thanks

Eric

Hello Craig
My magazine arrived today, and so I had a look at the article you mentioned, and here is my interpretation.
1. New features are being added to the OS and so an additional or replacement 300 settings (Styles, Presets, and Sounds etc) have been programmed by the UK Artists to make full use of them. (A lot of the original programming of Tyros 2 was done by UK Artists)
2. The second and separate expansion pack, relates to setups with additional pedals, keyboards, stands and speakers etc, from which you will be able to choose the combination you require, with the OS being expanded to allow easy selection of the different combinations.
The proof however will be at Pakefield, so I will let you know when I get back.

Bill

Bill you are correct about the additional pedals, extra keyboard and speaker system.
As for all the other updates and 300+ sounds I now know exactly what is happening as I received a telephone call yesterday from Yamaha, but an official announcement is going to be made by them soon, so I'll let T2 owners and potential buyers hear it later as I don't intend typing on SZ what I was personally told over the telephone in confidence.

Here's an update for anyone interested.

The 300 sounds are actually going to be registrations made by the various Yamaha demonstrators. The sounds will also be normal edits of the internal voices.
The IDC is having a massive update as well, so we should see some new styles, songs, sheet music etc. Hopefully a new OS update with a few bugs ironed out.

I've heard on the grapevine that these 300 sounds are going to be made available on a USB stick. I'm assuming the reason for this could be that Yamaha may use a read only USB stick which would be very beneficial for them as it would stop anyone copying their new sounds/registrations to anyone else. Yamaha still have to make money you know, so the idea of only being able to hear and use these sounds when the USB stick is attached to the T2 isn't as silly as it first appears to be.

Other things are a new lower keyboard and pedal board, possibly may be called a T2 pro and I'm assuming the extra keyboard and pedals will be available separately too.

Looks like good things are ahead for all T2 owners and any new buyers will now have more options to them.
I suppose Yamaha are still trying to cater for the organists with the 2 manual version.

Wow...thanks for the update. It's great knowing they are updating the T2 somewhat. I was getting a little impatient waiting for any kind of update/OS Upgrade. Especially when the Roland G70 has been updated many times as compared to the T2's zero updates.

This sounds completely out-of character for Yamaha. I hope it happens! Very exciting.

Vadim this thread is also on the Yamaha forum, but since most T2 owners choose to view and post on this general arranger forum instead that is why it is also on here. It's quite an important update for T2 owners so I didn't want anyone to miss it.

Hi Vadim no offence taken here m8. You rightly pointed out that there is also a Yamaha forum on here. It's a pity that the Yamaha users don't tend to post there as much as on the general arranger.
Take care.

The Pakefield festival only started today.
Graham UK and Abacus are there so I'm sure we will get some feedback soon.

Abacus has already posted a Full Keyboard Festival Report.
The USB Reg-stick is available October at £19.99 for Yamaha Club members & £24.99 for none members. Stated to be for T2 UK only, but I.am sure others will be able to obtain this Reg-stick. The demonstrations that we heard at the Keyboard Festival were excellent. 400 new registration + new organ samples. James Sergeant who performed the Reg-stick demo was responsible for the many hours of work to put this together and I give 10 out 10 to Yamaha for finally giving good customer support.
Also through IDC connection Yamaha are providing new Music Finder Data downloads for Tyros. 3k. 15K & CVP's in different Genres.
