Hello,
I heard that a few people have been having a chord lagging problem, when changing
chords in real time. EG: a split secon delay when chord is changed. Is anyone
experiencing this problem too? If so can It be corrected?

Never had any probs here Don.

When does it happen? - very near the last part of a bar? 4/4 for EG - or in between the bar (all the time in other words)?

I am assuming you have version 6.0 loaded, so there should be no problem whatsoever.

Does it happen on every -Rhythm? or just specific ones? If you can tell me what chord you play - and what Rhythm, then I will play the exact chord/rhythm as you - and see if it happens to me. If it happens all the time, then there is a problem somwhere.

Hi jupiter,

I can't help you with that info at this time. I don't have a K6 yet. But a good Pro buddy of mine does and thats what he was telling me. Now I don't know if this was before the latest version update either. It sounds like it was a bug n the begining stages after the K6 was introduced, and I am glad to hear that there doesn't seem to be any more problems with the K6. I have played one a few times and I like it alot, maybe because I played a K5 for a few years and I miss alot of the features Technics offers on this model. How do you like the Kn6000 so far?

Donny

Hi Donny

Since the release of Version 6.0 Don, the Technote forum is now well and truly a "Bug free" discussion! You never hear of Bugs now. I don't anyway.

Regards

Jupiter

Hi Donny & Jupiter:
I concur that the chord lag problems experienced in earlier KN6000 OS versions seem to be resolved in version 6. I played a KN6000 (almost a year ago) with an earlier OS version and it did have the troublesome chord lag problem you describe. I just recently played a KN6000 (with the current version 6 OS installed) and it does not have the chord lag problem. Another feature (which is important to me) which version 6 fixes is 'rootless chord' recognition. Earlier KN6000 OS versions did not recognize 'rootless chord' voicings correctly, but version 6 implements 'rootless chord' recognition correctly now.

I myself am interested in eventually upgrading from my KN5000 (which I still love and play everyday professionally) to the KN6000 but am hesitating because of the (hours/weeks?) of work and time necessary to transfer and convert all my 100's of custom song styles residing on my KN5000 hard drive to the KN6000 (optional)HD-SX6 hard drive.

Does anybody here have the Keysoft Service HD-SX6 Hard Drive installed in their KN6000? Anyone here ever transfered data from the KN5000 hard drive to the KN6000 hard drive? Is this process easy? I am interested in the KN6000 but will need the Hard Drive too.

Hi Scott and everyone.
Yes everything on the 6000 now seems to be running smoothly, except for the harmoniser, but that's not really a bug, just inadequate hardware I guess.
Scott, I don't know if you've had a chance to try the new EW01 expansion board yet, but as I've commented on the kn6000 forum the new piano sample is pretty disappointing. Sounds something like the rock piano on the 5000/6000. However as the existing piano sample is so good it doesn't really matter I suppose. There are lots of other goodies on the ew01, eg the new acoustic guitar, electric piano and organ samples. The new drum kits add a lot more variety too.
The vocal patterns are fun but nothing more.

It's just after midnight here in Sydney, so HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone.

Is there any alternatives to installing different manufacturers Model hardrives that
are less expensive, and a better Vocalizer unit into the Kn6000?

Donny,
ONLY the Keysoft Service brand HD-SX6 Hard Drive will work in the KN6000 because the KN6000 requires the specially designed HD-SX6 OS software for hard drive function and integration with the KN6000 operating system. The HD-SX6 allows you to easily create, store, and organize your hard drive song files (including lyrics/chord display if desired) directly from the KN6000's keyboard buttons and includes functions like file load script (storing/calling up song medleys - great for instantly calling up songs in succession for an entire show). I have the Keysoft Service model HD-AE5000 hard drive made specifically and installed on my KN5000 and find it indispensible, especially for live gigging. I have my complete collection of hundreds of customized songs/styles stored and organized by style type/category which offers instant (2-3 sec) song/style access/loading at a touch of a button. The hard drive may be pricey but I still think it is was WORTH EVERY PENNY I SPENT.

As far as the vocalizer goes, I don't think there is any other brand or model available which can be installed internallly to replace it. Instead of using the inferior one which comes with the KN6000, I recommend checking out the new "Voice Prism" vocal processor by Helicon. In fact, I'm even considering upgrading from my current "Digitech Vocalist Workstation EX" (which I still love) to this new improved "Voice Prism" unit myself. It's specs sound very impressive.

Hi Peter,
Happy 2001 to you in Sydney. Great to see your continued postings on this board. I caught (on television) a glimpse of the impressive fireworks display your city gave. WOW! I'm sure you did not miss that spectacular show. I'm glad that the initial KN6000 problems are now "finally" resolved as I'll never forgot the frustrating time you initally had, in getting Technics to even acknowledge the problems.

Seems to me that by the time you add the expensive hard drive, and buy an external harmonizer, you will have spent about 50 percent more than you would for a PSR9000. And you still wouldn't have sampler, video out, SCSI connection, and all those wonderful vocal processors, such as Noise Gate, Compressor/limiter, parametric e.q., etc.
Also, I don't like the fact that Technics took something like 6 months to first acknowledge and then address the almost-fatal "bugs" regarding chord recognition.
I owned KN800, Kn1000, Kn2000, KN5000 keyboards, but they have lost me because of the above issues.
Just my opinion. Hope everybody has a GREAT 2001.
