They could also be expressed as BMb5 = B Major flat 5 or BbM5 = Bb Major open 5 ...
If minor, it would be Bminb5 or Bbmin5 ...

I don't care what the chord is. I'm just happy to see us actually talking about music on Synthzone. Bodes well for a new year. NAMM is just 42 days away.

And then the 'mine is better than yours' wars can get started again!

But at least we can disagree about writing chords without getting boisterous.......!

Well, Starkeeper, there was your answer all along - if it was G5 in the key of G, it would be Bb(5) in the key of Bb.....

Sometimes we just tend to over-think the obvious...!

Whew! That was exhausting! Glad we got to the bottom, though !
So ..... how does the song sound when you only play the "power" chord?

Great discussion! I recently have been working on a tune with such a chord.

It moves from Bb to Bb/b5 to Bb. I think this middle chord sounds best as Bb D E.
On my Tyros screen it shows up as Bbb5

[Dm]I wonder as I [Gm7]wan-[Gm6/7]der [Gm7]out [Am]under [Dm]the [C]sky

[Asus4] How [Dm]Jesus, the [Gm7]Sav-[Gm6/7]ior, [Gm7]did [Bb]come [Bb/b5]for [Bb]to [Dm]die.

Totally different chord, there, JR.........

Starkeeper's was an open fifth chord, yours is a major flat five chord. But the thread keeps rolling along.....
