George,
Make sure non of the other bass features are turned on (Bass to lowest, Bass to Root) for these will over-ride Manual bass feature.
I just tested with OS4.0 here ... and it works ok.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
AJ

George and AJ,
I have version 4.0 oriental installed in my store unit and nothing happens when I turn on the manual bass button. One thing that is cool that I didn't know was that when I tap the to lowest button it now works as a tap tempo button. I never knew this before. You can tap it 2 times and the style will start, but if you have the sync start light on, you can tap as many times as you like and then start it by playing a chord on the keyboard. How long has this feature been on (version 3 or version 4). AJ, George is probably using the 4.0 oriental as well and maybe the 4.0 on the regular X1 works differently. Try the oriental version and see what happens.

George, you are rigth, I think it has to do with the 4.0 oriental version. I am glad it did the same on yours. Now please AJ find a solution,, Thanks... The only way I found this out is when my Base player couldn't make it to the gig. I went for the manual Bass and wala it wasn't there. : and then you know the rest !!! disaster..

I am not sure if this has been resolved yet, but my answer to the MANUAL BASS BUTTON is that its not the 4.0. Its the fact that you have the arabic MODE ON. What that does is it changes features on certain buttons as we all know. On the MANUAL BASS what it does is actualy makes your FILL IN a half measure rather than a whole measure. Could be useful (if you have a bad singer) but I would rather have the MANUAL BASS functionality. Hope this helps.

I may have used the words "ARABIC MODE" when I should be using "ORIENTAL OS" not sure.

Samer,
the first thing I tried at the store when seing the manual bass wasn't working was to go and check if the arabic mode was turned on or off. It didn't matter which way I selected it, the manual bass still didn't work. Finding the tap tempo and now the 1/2 measure fill function makes sense that it is not the arabic mode on and off but rather the oriental operating system which comes loaded into the X1 oriental keyboards. You know you have this operating system installed by watching the screen while the keyboard boots up and says "live oriental" at the start up.

I went ahead and installed the original 3.2a O.S. back on to my x1. The manual bass is back on, Samer and Gearge, you are both write in your findings, Like Samer said I would rather have the manual Bass than the Half fill in step and sing myself ..
I hope ketron will make that switch and keep the manual bass feature, in the new operating System. ( counting on you AJ, )

Thanks

GP.

AJ,

-has anything come out for ability to expand on the 16MB of the X1?

-If that is not to become true, can we at least have the capability of choosing which SND files we want from different packages and combine those to load up? For example, I may like the sax from one set of SND files and the STRINGS from another set, but I cannot load both sets because they total to more than 16MB. So can we have a software that will allow us to mix and match which sounds we want to upload?
