If he did, do you think he had any hand in arranging or did someone do that for him?

He played the field...does that count??

Sinatra was a fanatic when it came to what he heard...he would give input when rehersing with the band...he might not have written[notation] the music, but with his view and opinions he sure steered the ship..

As for playing an instrument,I have never seen or heard him do so...not even to sit at a piano...I seen him lean on one though..

He played the cash-register and leaned on the bar as well.

Without looking it up, Frank never played an instrument to the best of my knowledge, but I DID hear that he wrote That Christmas song he did .... "Oh by gosh by golly" ... or is it called "Mistletoe & Holly" Hmmmm....
I've heard rumors that he had perfect pitch but never saw anything to document it. One thing he did better than anybody ....
Surround himself with the best in players and arrangements. It'd be tough for anyone to fail in front of the bands that backed him up.

He did play around with the piano for the studio work in his home...nothing very elaborate, just to go over new ideas...this is according to some early writtings of his life in his music that I've read about 12-15 years ago....

I have a couple books about his life, and I'll check it out tonight. He was always one of my idols.

Thanks,

Gary
