Has anyone used the new Cakewalk Pro Audio version 9 that just came out? After hearing about all the problems with version 8 and how it can't really be used for multi digital audio recording but is a great midi recorder, how does the new version 9 shine?

Thanks,

hmmm....I haven't heard about not being able to record audio in 8.0. Normally, these sites are for people with problems so you might be getting the wrong impression. Alot of newbies are just not familiar with recording so they tend to have a hard time setting up their equipment, not to mention trying to learn the software.

Hi,

I also have had absolutely no problems working with multi-track audio in V8 (8.0 thru 8.4). In fact it has proved to be absolutely solid.

You have to be careful of these kinds of reports. Often they come from people with badly set up PCs or systems not dedicated to just the production of music.

I have Cakewalk 8.04 using a Pent III 450mHZ CPU, 128MB Ram, 20GB hard drive and have experienced Cakewalk to slow down or speed up my audio tracks. When it happened I had one midi track and two audio tracks I tried all the changes in the Audio Options in Cakewalk but nothing helped. Finally I had to redo the audio parts to get it to work. I have no idea why it happened. I do run Scandisk and Defrag on my hard drive which is partitioned in 3 pieces.

Hi,

Well I can run 24 tracks of Audio, on a K6 200Mhz, 64mb RAM, 3.5GB harddrive with abosolutely no prblems at all (V8.04). However I built the system myself and it is used for music only.

These sort of problems are unlikely (though not completely impossible) to be caused by Cakewalk.

Complete details of the V9.0 Cakewalk release are on the Cakewalk web site at www.cakewalk.com

CakeWalk 9.0 works fine, and it has a lot of improvements, this time they've had a good time to code it.
- Nice Guitar stuff
- an instrument tuner
- improoved layouts

Any of you with the version 8 series of Cakewalk try this to test a bug in this version of Cakewalk. Make sure you have midi tracks and audio tracks. Go to TOOLS then AUDIO OPTIONS then ADVANCED then check the box that says USE WAVE OUT POSITION FOR TIMING. Now play your song. You get timing slop right? It slows down then speeds up. Now go back and undo the changes you made with the USE WAVE OUT POSITION FOR TIMING. Remove the check mark this time. Do you still get timing slop??? I found this out and can't recover that song to play it back properly. Why? I guess the rule is if the timing was first alright DON"T TOUCH ANYTHING! Any Cakewalk version 9 owners having this problem?
