You should be able to bulk dump your internal GP16 settings to a sysex utility on the PC. Most sequencers also have a sysex library function built in or you can download shareware to do it. Look up the GP16 manual to see how to do a bulk dump. This way you will have a backup of all your GP16 patches on your PC incase you wish to edit some of them.

NOTE You don't need any special device driver to do communicate over MIDI using the GP16, but also NOTE you can't record audio via its MIDI ports. MIDI is provided on FX units to allow the sending and saving of settings and in some models controls can be manipulated over MIDI using sysex massages.

The GP16 manual will list its various MIDI capabilities.
