Hi,

I've connected a midi keyboard up to my pc and have started creating backing tracks as a hobby. My problem is that my sound card gives crappy, empty and tinny sound. Can anyone recommend a PCI sound card that has good midi and possibly loads sounds other than the 127 or so on a standard card that won't break my budget?

Tx.

You can install a new wave table from Roland for under $40, instead of the 4 operator FM waves that are shipped with most cheaper sound cards...

I think...I hope... you are talking about the virtual sound canvas range of software. Well, I installed it and it sounds GREAT!

Thanks.

Well in my experience, the Yamaha SW1000XG is excellent but limited to Windows98. I just tried a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 which was pure junk! Destabilized my OS and would not allow me to install the Cubasis VST into non-Soundblaster system running Windows XP. I am pulling it tomorrow and taking the garbage back to the store.
