I had a KN7000 about 3+ years ago but when Technics went out of production I went with a Tyros 2. Now that has gone in favour of another KN7000 and I am not disappointed.
I have just one major gripe not with the KN
but with the fact that when you go buy a second hand keyboard such as the KN they never come back with the items that came with the original sale. When I exchanged my KN for the Tyros, I sent every available and plus some when I did the deal. It means that the dealers have sold the items on, separately or the original owners thought they would keep them themselves to sell on.
I just find that sort of thing very frustrating.

PETER...

Indeed, having all the articles that were originally sold wit the 7K is great. The second one I purchased about 2 or 3 years ago was accompanied not only with all the original articles, but a great deal more.
The seller sent along his collection of floppy discs and SD cards...
For several weeks before I actually sent my check, we negotiated over the price and what would be sent along with the KB.....
Maybe you might contact your seller... Perhaps some of the desired articles might still be available...If not enjoy your wonderful 7K anyway....
Enjoy the holiday season as well....

Thanks for your reply Elizabeth.
KN7 is still the best keyboard and although I don't need them to enjoy it, it's just nice to have them.
Best wishes for the holiday and beyond.

Hi to all
Long time since I posted here, totaly agree with the comments on the great KN7000. I have 2, bought one for backup when Technics pulled the plug.
However I have had a couple of flirtations with the Tyros ( t2 & t3, slow learner) Never took one of them out to a gig, as nothing really suited "out of box" and the editing system is a joke.
However I managed to resist the latest T4 incarnation, it still lacks features that the KN had years ago.
Enough of this, I would like to wish all you wonderful forumers A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR
Thanks also to Nigel for his great, happy site.

Best to all

Eddie

I couldn't agree with you more Eddie. I've had the T4 almost four weeks and have spent the best part of 3 weeks trying to get it to work properly. Apparently it has what is described as a 'glitch' but I'd say it has the same problems as the KN6000 in that the volume is either very loud or almost inaudible and the styles tend to 'hang' the only solution being to switch off and restart the keyboard.

Yamaha finally produced a version 1.02 on the 22nd December last since which time, I've been trying to get it to download properly. The keyboard shows the new version as having been successful, but still, some of the styles 'hang'. As you say, the operation system is 'a joke' in comparison to the simplicity of the Technics.
Even though I love the sound and the fact it feels like an acoustic piano, if I can't get it sorted tomorrow, it's going back to the Dealer I'm really 'cheesed off' with it.

Thank goodness, I've still got my KN7000, it may have an old fashioned analogue sound, but at least it's response is instant and a joy to play.

A friend of mine is expecting delivery of Ty4 today so I will be able to compare.
Personally, I had a Ty2 for over 3years and although it is a good instrument I have gone back to the KN7000 and it is a far more user friendly and versatile keyboard.

Regards
Peter

YEAH! Let us all stand and applaud our wonderous Technics Keyboards!

Probably a Tyros 4 would be in my "collection" had I ignored the wisdom of several "Zonies"..... Audrey, you were the "decider" for me....

I love your phrase..."Cheezed Off" I suspect it means the same as our "Pissed Off"!!

I am on my way this morning to my weekly gig where my second 7K awaits the insertion of the SD card that stays all week in my "at home" 7K.... All my latest changes ready to apply to my music for my "peeps"...

Today, 12/31/2010.... My Mom will celebrate her 100th birthday as the world rings in the new year! Happy New Year everyone and Happy Birthday to my incredible Mom!
