DOES ANYONE KNOW IF A ROLAND VS8F1 EFFECTS BOARD WILL WORK IN A VSR-880(RACK MOUNT VERSION OF VS-880). THE MANUAL CALLS FOR THE USE OF A VS8F2 EFFECTS BOARD. I THINK THE VS8F1 IS JUST AN EARLIER VERSION WITHOUT ALL THE MIC MODULING AND AMP SIMULATIONS. THE VS8F1 BOARDS ARE BEING CLOSED OUT AT $79.00. THE PRICE ON THE VS8F2 BOARDS ARE $300.00.

I was told that the board is different, but I can't swear to WHY. The physical shape of the unit is different from the tabletop, so maybe the circuit board is also different. I have a vsr880, but decided to go with all outboard gear - mixer, effects and such. It makes life (and mixing!) so much easier. The price on the 880 is under $500 right now .... I'm thinking of getting one as a portable unit, so I can do remote recording, and bring it back to my studio and sweeten the tracks here! I'll also get the option of linking them together for 16 tracks.
I like the 880 - even with all the new advances .... with my setup, I have a versatile, practical 8 track that is easy to use and produces great results!

( I used a spell check, so Tek wouldn't get offended ! )
