to MP3 Files. Are there any free programs that will convert the complete file and not just part of it from ra to mp3?
I did all my recording in RA for several years so I have a lot of them. I would also like to convert to wav to put them on cd's.
Appreciate any good info.
Best to all,
Bebop Bill

thanks John but that is neither free nor a file conversion software.
I just figured out how to do this using my RA player and Cakewalk Pro Audio V9.0 to do the recording and then save to MP3 or Wav file.
thanks,

Hi

Have you tried the freeware Audacity software. I have seen that you can convert Wav, ogg, vorbis, FLAC, etc. to mp3 or wav. But I am not sure about the ra format.

thanks,
I have tried most of the softwares that are able to do this and they all seem to report the same problem. they don't have the right codecs for the file conversion to work. this indicates a problem in my computer or my Real Audio program so after doing everything else and nothing changes, I will now delete and reinstall the Real Audio Program.
Best to all,
Bebop

thanks Mordicus, I think I have tried that one too. I have tried a number of them and they all report that there is a parsing error, and won't work.
It may be that these files are just too old to work with current program, although it plays the ra music files fine. I recorded these 10 plus years ago,

Hi Bebop,

Maybe there could be another way to get around your problem. You could use 2 differents programs working independently. I mean while you're playing your real audio file in Real Audio, you could record it (while playing) in another recording program. Have you tried that?

That is exactly what I am talking about -- the recorder records from any other second source.

Yes, thanks, that is what I am currently doing but it is so time consuming doing one file at a time and I have thousands of them.
Abacus advised me that there are no codecs available for these songs recorded 10 plus years ago. So. I am just out of luck for any batch conversions.
End of report.
