Help! Granddaughter playing my KN7000 while I was out and now I've lost the sound completely. Tried factory reset via Program Menus / Initial / etc, as well as holding down 3 lower left Rhythm Group buttons while powering on. Still nothing. Granddaughter told me there was a "bump" when it stopped. Does that sound like something's blown? Any suggestions?

Do you by any chance have a volume pedal plugged in to your keyboard as this may have been moved so you hear nothing? I hope you don't mind me suggesting this but it happened to us when we had the keyboard out and someone else had been playing. Good luck.

Unfortunately that's not the problem. The volume pedal was already disconnected, and I have since also disconnected the 4-pedal foot switch. Still no sound.

Thanks for the suggestion, Midge. Checked that, and the setting was 'On'.

I've just found that using headphones, and in a very quiet room, I can JUST hear the sound. Interestingly, the volume (albeit very low) is not changed by moving the Main Volume fader. Seems to me like an amplification stage has died.

Hi Mike,
If you connect an external Amplifier to the Line Out sockets, can you hear the sound?
If you can, then it looks like the Power Amplifier module in your KN7000 has given up the ghost!

Also, the 'Bump' which your Granddaughter reported, would suggest that something failed.

No, Bill. Same result. I get a very faint sound thru the amp if I turn up the volume high. The KN7000 manual's a bit confusing on p200 - it mentions Line Out and Main Out in the block diagram but on the rear panel there are only Main Out sockets. So I used the R/Mono Main output. I also tried the Sub output after assigning Right 1/Right 2/ etc to Sub output as per p161, but got the same faint output again.

Hello Michael,

I have my KN7000 connected direct to the amplifier using the Main Out with the red plug in the 'Right' and the other in the 'Left' - if it's any help to you.

I assume you have checked all the usual things such as: is the volume down or muted, is the modulation wheel up in the 'max' position when it shouldn't be. Are the Part Settings at an audible level or maybe turned off. Have you tried taking out the leads and replacing them. Do you perhaps need a new Mains lead (with constant use they can sometimes become split and therefore not make proper contact).

Finally are you using an SD Card if so, try another one, the first could be faulty.

When I had a similar problem many moons ago, it turned out to be the amplifier connection. The wires in my amp are only held in by clips and one of these had pulled away slightly.

Just some ideas for you. I'll be interested to know what the answer is if, and when, you find out.

Audrey

Hi guys,
Stupid question,BUT, when all else fails, go back to basics.
Are your volume levels up?
Also could be faulty headphone jack.
I had a friend (RIP)had a problem similar, with sound, cannot remember all the details, but was caused by a faulty H/P jack.
Do you have one or two H/P outlets? (These small things have limited functions LOL) but worth a try ?????
