I've read this posting with great interest as I too used to have these problems. How did I deal with it?

Simple - I purchased Fred Mellink's KN SD Explorer Tool which allows you to mix and match from any amount of SD Cards in any order you wish, using 'drag & drop' (Windows style) and the bonus is you can then print out an Index of your latest compilations.

I save everything to SD card and work from there. The SD card is loaded and ready for use by the time I have turned over my music page.

I cannot stress too much how useful this tool is.

Right you are Aud. Anyone owning a 7000 should have that tool.

Fred's tool is most certainly useful but I fail to see the relevance here, since the solution involves manipulating files internally in the keyboard and re-saving, just re-arranging files on an SD card cannot help.

Hi Aud
Yes, I use Fred's program to do that very thing. I,however, was glad to learn more about working with composer(finally), and the advantage is instant change of song without loading time.

Hi all,

Thanks to Alec's book, I have custom slots 1-20 filled with my most used styles & saved to an SD card. I also have a number of composer style set-up's (A-B-C) saved as various songs on the same SD card. These are all saved with their own 10 panel memories. When i require a style that is not in custom slots 1-20, it is a simple matter of loading the required composer song & in no time I am ready to play using the new style c/w 10 panel memories, & I still have the 20 custom styles to select from simply by pressing the bank button & selecting the required style.

With this set-up, I always have 23 different useable styles loaded at any one time. This system works like a dream for me & I can highly recommend it

Alan

Alan,

You've a great routine. Would you mind telling us what size SD Card(s) you use?

Thanks!

Hi Audrey,

I'm using a 64MB card at present with a back-up card of 32MB. While I have 23 of my most used custom /composer styles loaded at any one time, it is only possible to use 13 banks (10 + A B C)at one time. Each of these banks consist of 1 style + 10 panel memories.

Should I need to use my other styles ( saved as A B C c/w their 10 panel memories each), they are then loaded from their song positions on the SD card. While I correctly call them "songs" on the SD card they are not in fact "tunes" as such.

Yours in Music

Alan
