Many old Technote style discs for PR 700, 702 etc will not load in the new 04 series. However, if these discs are loaded into an 03 series and the 03 series is used to make a floppy disc, the new files work fine in the 04. My question is does anyone know any software tricks to avoid this step? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have a PR900 and a PR804. Sad that the PR804 can only load and play the PR900 composer files. Other file formats have to be converted using either the 02 or 03 series. You will have to find someone who has these models and send them the files to convert. You will have to tweak it a little, mainly volume and octave settings.

Hmmmn, it's my understanding the PR602/702/902 and PR703/903 files are compatible and should work on the PR604/804. I found a person who converted my PR900 files using his PR902 and these loaded fine on the PR804. The files you have, are those true PR files? They could be KN files in disguise, if so, then it won't work.

Anthony,

Thanks for the response. I had a PR 702 prior to my PR 804 and files it created work fine. The ones I am having trouble with include Technics Music Disk Collections which state they are compatible with PR500, PR51, 52, 53, PR600,602,603, etc. They clearly originated prior to the 02 series. Many Technote style and registration discs have the same problem.

My hope was that someone would know the specifics of what changes in the format when a disc is created with the newer instruments and that it could be done with file editing in the computer rather than the tedious process of loading and saving each file from each floppy in the piano.

Still hoping.

If I understand you correctly, you are able to load and play PR702 files on your PR804 that you saved using your PR702? If so, great!

If your trying to use the original disks from Technote then thats different. Here's what I think. The Technote disks are in PR700/900 format. These can load and play on the 02 and 03 PR's, why the keyword compatible.

Sorry to disappoint you, but you will have to find someone with a 02 or 03 PR series and is willing to convert the files for you.
