for $750 buxx you might get a Korg MS-2000 or
an Oberheim OB-12 (maybe even a Roland XP-8000, used). PHAT sound! Check out Ebay.

i agree on the xp-30 suggestion...great all around keyboard, for a good price, i snagged mine for 820

While the MS2000 is an AWESOME synth (I just got one) It's not one I'd reccomend as someone's only synth as it has only a four voice polyphony. I'd reccomend something with a higher polyphony. A good website to check out is http://www.vintagesynth.com/

It's got a LOT of info on a lot of synths, new and old, plus sound samples of most of them. It's a good resource. Synthzone.com (of course) is also a decent resource.

you can get Ensoniq ts10 cheap used, maybe for 750$. Good many sounds and builtin seqencer. Also easy touse. im looking ofr arranger for breakbeats to sync with like yammha psr2000 but cost too much but sounds good good luck

Bah! The TS10 doesn't even come close to the standards on the SQ-1+. Then again, I'd rather drive syringes under my toe-nails before buying another Ensoniq synth.
