Hi John,
Needless to say, no Technics keyboard can compare with the 7000. The Tyros v. the KN7000 is debatable. The T2...from what I heard is the best.

I believe the original topic was the 2600 and the 5000. SkyBrook2 wants the capablity of loading custom styles and sound settings from a friends 7000. Sky, you can't with the 5000, but you can with the 2600.

If I had a choice, it would take me about 2 seconds to choose...the 2600. So many more features, including the ability to use all styles made from the 2000 on up, including the 5000, and the 7000 ! The 5000 is limited to the 5000 files on down. You can play all songs recorded by all KN keyboards on the 2600...can't on the 5000.

Combine all that with USB, Jukebox Audio, lighter wieght, and just being the newest and last Technics keyboard, makes the choice easy (for me)

The 2600 wins hands down !

On the other hand, the KN5000 has better speakers as well as aftertouch, 10 banks of 8 panel memories (3 in the 2600), custom memory bank, sound arranger and provision for up to 6 foot switches (2 in the 2600). Each keyboard has its own pros and cons and it is a matter of which best suits individual requirements.

Cheers
Len C.

I am sure that the KN5000 is an excellent keyboard, but, it is 30% heavier than the KN2600, it has only 330 sounds as compared to 1064 NX sounds, its accompaniment is 5 part compared to the KN2600's 8 part, and if necessary the KN2600 can load a different set of 24 panel memories from SD card with every song you load.

And you just ought to hear my KN2600 playing through my Gigaworks S750 7.1 700Watt RMS surround system with its 210Watt RMS sub woofer and 20Hz to 40kHz frequency response!

Huge, powerful, detailed and precise doesn't begin to do it justice!

Cheers,

s.
