Can someone suggest a carrying case for the KN5000? The ones I have seen cannot accomodate the thickness of the keyboard without being too long. I am interested in a heavy duty padded soft case, but will also consider a hard shell case.
Thanks,
RickV

Rick,

I own and recommend the model #PK504 heavy duty yet lightweight high density foam shelled case made by Protec. This case is quite rugged for keyboard gigging transport but if you need to ship your keyboard by air, you may need an airline flight approved ATA hard shell case (though unfortunately an ATA hard shell case is MUCH heavier in weight).

Be sure to specify the "model #PK504 case designed for the Technics KN5000 keyboard" and they will supply you with appropriate foam block inserts which will allow the KN5000 to fit perfectly in the case.

Protec does not sell directly to the consumer but they can direct you to the store closest to you.

Protec International
3040 South Manhattan Avenue
Fullerton, California, USA 92831

telephone: (800) 325-3455

Happy keyboarding,

- Scott

Rick,

Another option is a case made by the Modern Case Company. This soft case with soft foam padding all around is covered in black nylon with a velvet velour lining inside. This case fits the KN5000 perfectly (same dimensions as the KN5000) but is not nearly as durable and rugged as the Protec #PK504 case. I use this case when taking my KN5000 to local solo functions where 'only I' will be entrusted with it. If you need to entrust your keyboard to careless roadies, better go with the Protec #PK504 or a heavy duty ATA approved flight case.

My case does not show a model number on the case itself. The only tag on the case says 'USA Case'. If you contact the Modern Case Company and ask them for their soft keyboard case (with red velour lining inside) made specifically for the KN5000, they can give you the correct keyboard case model number. The price is around $70.

Good luck,

- Scott

No problem Rick.

Please let us know what 'which' case you finally decide on and 'how' the case works out for you.

Rick,
I have a padded bag that was made for the X1 (I have 2 )and it will work fine for the KN5000, too. If you want dimensions or details - email me direct. You can have this case for $100. ( It's new, we sell keyboards as a side line to playing )
