My daughter has created a floppy disk on the kn1500 technics keyboard,
but it needs conversion in hex for it to be used on our replacement
kn3000. How can I achieve that? Can I also convert the same files so
that they are compatible on the KN7000?

Hi,Looking at your problem you would be as good to look at www.emc-musicsoftware.de It will offer you a lot and now it works up and inc. the 7000, check out the free trial, the 7000 will read the 1500 without convertion as my son has a 1500 and i have both a 3000 and 7000. best regards John.

load a 3000 composer into hex edit and the first 4 bytes will be something like G KD. Load your 1500 composer and change the same bytes to the 3000 ones you saw and it will load into the 3000. Treat each of the other sub files which contain the same code in the same way but do not load all in one file, load each individually because a failure in one may stop the load of the others until you which combinations work.

My historical notes are at a different location at the moment so this is all from memory but I definitely converted some 1500 styles that were not on the 3000 to work on the 3000 in those days so it definitely works. Sound memory also may work but if panel memories are different (8 to 24) they will not work, likewise if the 1500 has not got a 10 song sequencer, I can't rememeber about sequences.

EMC will work on composers but will not convert sequences so some luck may be involved if songs are involved.
