Beware of built in demos whether online or "in person". Some instruments never sound like the demo when played "live".

Your best bet is to try it in person. Some places allow a 30 - 45 day trial period.

Demos are done by pros using state of the art recording techniques.

I have experienced this more than once.

Not mentioning any brands, their online demos made me want to get their keyboard very much. In person they were extremely dissappointing.

Hope this helps someone to avoid an expensive unwanted suprize.

Scott

Hi Scott.Yes you do make a valid point.
On other KNs I have tried to find the sounds used in Demo's.But as you rightly say. They are pro demo's.And more to the point,"very good Pro's",they can really play.
And very cleverly sequenced.
Sincerely.

Hi Joe

Actually, I'm referring to the actual sequencing and recording technique's used to affect the sound of the instrument rather than a persons playing ability.

In other words, to me, IMHO, if the KN2600 sounded like the online demos, I wouldn't have sold it. If the Korg PA80 sounded like the online demos I would be using it right now. Fine for what they are. Many people like them, but the demos don't sound like any person could in a live situation.

Your best bet is to to try a few different brands of the same price range side by side. This will really tell the truth.

If you could listen to a Technics, Yamaha, Korg and Roland at least your ears will tell you pretty much the answer almost right away.

Also, you might want to start watching the Genereal Arranger forum here to see what the pro's are playing. At the same time, you can't really go by what somebody else says they like, because I know there are a few popular "name" brands and models that some people seem to really like that I would not personally use.

Just a little food for thought.

Hi Christian
The KN2600 is in my opinion superb value for money, particularly if you can pick one up on Ebay for much less than the original retail which was just under £1000UK. The KN7000 is the king but it will cost you a lot more.

As I am not very technical, could someone please explain why songs I record on the SD card of my KN2600 will not play on the KN7000, as I thought that they were fully compatible? Is there any way round this please?
Regards,
Normy

Hi Christian,

While I don't have a KN2600 I do have the SX-PR54 piano which uses the same sound system as the KN2600/KN2400.

You can listen to a couple of WMA files I recorded at http://www.technicsforall.com/songs2.html

Best of Luck

I use Easy Record on the KN2600 to record a complete song performance. Then I save it on the SD card under Technics format. Fine, it plays back perfectly. If I try to use this card in the KN7000, it appears to load the file, but there is an error message, and the song will not play.

As I understand it the Technics models are backwards compatible. Meaning the KN2600 was the last to be produced,so it will read KN7000 info, but not the other way around.
