I have just transfered all the custom files for the KN7000 from the Technote CD that came with the book, "Getting the most from your Kn7000", to a sd card. I have noted that their are 2000, 3000 5000, 6500 and new 7000 styles on this cd, however there are two identical sets of the 5000 and none of the 6000. I went to technics website to get the kn6000 custom styles for the kn7000 there and they are not there either. Does anybody know why this is??
Advise and thanks

I got them earlier from "home.planet.nl/~cels/styleskn6000.htm" but I believe this link is no longer available.
I checked my CD but only one lot of KN5000 styles - unless you are referring to the two files, one being an .AST listing and the other .CST individual files.
regards
Keith

The 6500 was a minor upgrade to the 6000 with a few new styles, there are 100 in the folder on my compact disk so obviously they must be the 6000 styles too. Just like Kieth I can't find any duplicated styles anywhere.

Hi Bebop,

As I recall the 6500 had an additional 20 styles plus the 200 from the 6000. I believe that the 6500 styles on the Technote disk are those which were not carried through to the 7000 from the 6000/6500.

Cheers

Thank you people for the info. I did not realize the 65 only had a few new styles as I went from the KN6 to the KN7. You must be right then.
Yes I do actually have two complete sets of KN5000 styles, on the disc and they are exactly the same. No duplicates of the other KN Styles though.
The other thing I wonder about is that these styles were supposed to fill a 32 mg card but the 32 mg card is only half full with all 682 new styles on it plus the 4 audio files checked out to the card.
Why is this??

I think you need to read page 84, where it says the total backup will fit on a 32 Mb card or bigger it doesn't say it will fill it. Obviously this must be because it will not fit on a 16 MB card. I've looked at my cd again and there is no duplication,it may well be you need to put your glasses on?

Hi All!

I went to the above url & lo & behold there are a couple of styles I've been looking for; namely the Irish Jig & the Scottish Reel....I like the traditional rhythms...

I downloaded the "World" styles, 309 Kb to my desktop & it has an .AST extension....as I haven't used this type of file before, how do I proceed from here, as it does not seem to be a zip file?.....how do I "open" the icon to access the individual styles?....

Many Thanks,
FlutteringBy

Load one .ast file onto a floppy, place floppy into the KN. Load one .ast file and you should end up with 20 styles in Custom Rythm Group.

Hi KeithB,

Yes, that is exactly what I tried to do....I moved the file onto a floppy & when I pressed Load, it told me "The file you tried to load is empty"... ...I checked the properties on the file & it shows 309 Kb, but for some reason my board doesn't recognize it.....that's why I was wondering if there was something special that had to be done....

Thanks for the reply,....

Hi Flutteringby,
some checks:
1. be sure you disk is empty (maybe you have other files on the disk or for example place 03 is occupied with another song or style?)
2. copy the ast-file to this disk
3. put the disk in the KN
4. when you whish to load (e.g. World-styles): in this case you should see on place 03 in your diskload-menu on your KN7: 03world_ and on the right square only 'all custom styles'
3. when highlighted 03 .. press load
Then it should work and you shoud have the 'original' KN6000 styles, including sound settings.
Success,
Cees

Hi Bill,

At a loss to explain why your cd has duplicate sets of KN5000 styles. Checked all
the CDs I have in the manual and it stock and all read with the correct information. Please let me know how many files are on your cd when you have a chance.

Open the roof of the CD in Explorer, edit menu than select all and then file menu and then properties. That will give you the number of files and folders.

Thanks,

Walt

HI WALT,
I opened the cd today after a fresh boot and I only have one set of the Kn5000 files, instead of two as I had yesterday.
Used space is 271,001,600 =258 MB
835 files
22 folders
using 94.7 MB
size on disk is 95.5 MB
I was prining out directly from the disk the names of all the 682 custom files there when I got to the KN5000 it had duplicate files in the Windows Explorer index and all the files in both duplicates could be accessed. Strange.
Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill,

Good news!!!!Your cd is perfect, you have the correct amount of folders and files. I have alerted our Quality Control department (me) to stop checking our inventory of cd disks since they are fine.

Please consider the following for additional problems:

1. Write to Bill Gates

2. Punch computer, if that fails punch printer, if both fail try kicking each computer part in any order you like.

3. Check your prescription bottle for correct dosage of medication.

4. Be sure you have the proper glasses on for correct vision. I have three and they all do a different function. Time for Lasak surgery.

5. If all the above fail - never hit the KN7000 - you could void your warrantee.

Glad the problem is solved.

Walt

Hi cees,

Thank you for your reply & help....

>>4. when you whish to load (e.g. World-styles): in this case you should see on place 03 in your diskload-menu on your KN7: 03world_ and on the right square only 'all custom styles'>>

All this happens except for the "right square"....I don't get that appearing....

I guess the problem is that I don't have a Kn 7000, but I have a Kn 2400.....& I've found that some 7000 styles work & some don't....obviously this is one that won't.... ...

Darn!!...& this was the first Irish Jig that I had come across, as that rhythm (6/8) is not on the Kn 2400 & I use it a lot....

I'll keep looking,
Thanks again,

Hi flutteringby,
I didn't know that you had a KN2400. But if you whish I could copy the wanted custom-file(*.ast) (Irish Jig) to a KN7 composerstyle (*.cmp). Maybe than it could work in your KN2400?? If you whish, please mail me your mailadress and I mail it to you (with 2 other Irish-cmp's).
Greetings,
Cees.

So if the cd is perfect and everything that should be there is there ONCE and you have not got double vision then it sounds like it's time to bite the bullet trash your computer and splash out on a new one
