It is with great sadness that I report the passing of my dear friend Gary Diamond's sweet wife of 63 years, Carol.

Please think the kindest thoughts ever of both.

I'm so glad I have a frequent, meaningful contact with Gary almost daily
that involve subjects that went way beyond the music we both love.

Please think your best thoughts of someone of real substance.

Thanks, everyone. I find myself crying a lot, especially as I look across the kitchen table at the empty chair, or when I go to bed and there is no one lying next to me that I can kiss goodnight. I her hand until the minute she died. She was in a deep coma and I don't know if she heard me saying how much I loved her as she passed. I did what the Hospice nurse told me to do and kept her heavily sedated throughout the process and she passed peacefully.

This has been a horrible time in my life. My son died of Adenocarcinoma on Father's Day, my wife passed last Friday, and now the docs tell me that I likely have lung cancer and must undergo Proton Therapy beginning next week. Psychologically, I'm shot to Hell. Thank goodness for the support from my daughter and friends.

Gary, so sorry to hear this news. Lydia and I send our condolences and prayerful thoughts.

Tomorrow is the big day. It's the first Proton Therapy treatment, which scares the living Hell out of me. This is the one field of medicine that I have no experience with, therefore I must depend upon someone else's medical expertise to go through the next five treatments. Hopefully, they will be skilled at this new therapy and I will get through it cancer free.

You should be fine, the first successful treatment was done in Sweden in 1957, and things have moved on significantly since then. (There are also significantly less side effects then normal radiation therapy)
