Greetings Arranger Enthusiasts.

Great to see this website has continued. God Bless Nigel for creating this place. Thanks Kerry for allowing me to register.

I'm 59 and live in baltimore maryland. I experienced ear damage and was diagnosed with Meniere's disease Dec 2013. Married 36 years with two adult children. Daughter gets married nov.4th.

I started selling arranger keyboards in 1988. My first arranger was a Yamaha X4500 (psr4600).I was exposed to Ketron Products in 1996 and asked to create instructional "how to use" videos for the Ketron X1 and Ketron SD1plus.

I still have a SD1plus & Korg PA4Xpro.

X1 video intro 1999 https://youtu.be/WCgq4GndN1Y

2015 I started a mission in south east uganda. played music to raise money and build a school. search magooli academy on google earth

This is a blues shuffle called King of my throne.

Recorded in real time on a Korg PA4xpro and using Audix OM2 microphone. https://www.reverbnation.com/danoneil/song/33544641-throne

Yes indeed Gary. Life is precious. I've experienced 3 of my 5 brothers who have passed before their time. When my mom passed in Dec 2015, I started a mission to help a church in Uganda. I traveled to Uganda Feb 2020 and met all the orphaned children and teachers.

Thanks for listening to the tune.

PS. Sailed on a 1925 Catboat in St.Michaels !

DanO !!!!!!

Great to hear from you. I retired a year ago after working 30 years for local government. I'm 63 and my body seems to be quickly falling apart.
In 2004 hurricane Charley pounded my home but I was able to make all the repairs myself. Fast forward to now.....hurricane Ian kicked my butt and I am no longer physically able to do anything like before.

I guess you just put the pieces back together and do the best you can. It sucks when a chunk of your retirement nest egg has to go to hurricane repairs. Who wants to travel now anyway?? Best wishes. -charley

Charlie, you are a tough, old bird, and I am confident you can still do most of the repairs before the next hurricane heads your way.

Always good to see you posting,

DanO

We have both been hanging around here for many years. You, of course. are very well known, but this is the first time I have heard your music. GREAT STUFF.BTW, I love your mission, also.

Bernie

Thank you Bernie. Glad you liked the tune.

I switched to Korg PA 4X PRO 2 years ago. I've been pleasantly surprised with overall recording results.

I see your gear list. Which keyboard are you using the most ?

Charley.

Again I am sorry for the destruction.

OT: I'm curious if local residents consider rebuilding with converted shipping containers ?

After Hurricane Charley in 2004 the Port of Miami couldn't give away the thousands of shipping containers they had. Many local governments got them for free and used them as storage buildings everywhere. There were several local news stories about people joining them and making homes out of them. It never seemed to happen on a large scale. I often wondered why. -charley

Welcome back Dan O'Neil. Glad you're still playing and sharing your music. Also, your charity work is very impressive, nice to see people helping people.

Welcome, Dan.

Nice to have someone here with a background in selling and supporting arrangers. How-to’s are always in strong demand!

Would you mind sharing how you cope with your ear problems, how it influences your equipment decisions, ways you try to make sure both you AND your audience get an optimal listening experience etc.?

Another thread may be best, but I know many of us here are getting on a bit and facing various degrees of hearing loss or attenuation, it would be interesting to hear from a pro how they are coping.

We’re also a bit light on Korg players willing to post demos, it would be interesting to hear more from that manufacturer, and if you’ve found good ways to integrate the Ketron and Korg as one unit.

How did you get started playing music in the first place, by the way? It’s always interesting to hear how our members started out playing before arrangers came along!

We hope you enjoy your stay, it’s a diverse group of people here… 😎🎹
