What is the best way of reducing the melody ch to zero, to play in any device without a DAW? I can do this with Notation Composer, but while I can do other edits, it works as a subset only with volume. This means the melody is back in when exported. It seems this is so with other keyboards. I can use the Yamaha PSRUTI program to delete the track, but I sometimes need the notation and lyrics.

Assuming you mean a midi file then edit on the SX and mix channel 1 or 4 to level zero as usually it's one of those two channels that carries the melody.

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying the SX volume edit will be retained when saved and exported to a flash drive. It is easy enough to turn off or lower the volumes on my keyboards, but I want to retain the edits for other devises.

In a midi file, I'd say so.

The Yamaha sequencee editor isa bit obtuse but I think you can do this in midi multitask record

From memory... Load your midi file, open multitrack recording, open the mjxer, adjust track levels, close mixer, execute, play the file within the editor to make sure you've tweaked the right track, save to a new file name and hopefully that's it.

Reducing the volume to zero still uses polyphony...

Admittedly, in this case it would just be the one voice, so not maybe a big deal, but in general it’s far better to either mute tracks if possible or remove them altogether if not.
