Hello Denny, I think that you need to look at style conversion universal software …...it is made by the German company EMC .

the man to contact is Klaus Grosser …………..I had it years ago ,it was pretty good it would also convert midifiles to styles .
some tweaking will be required ……….good luck in your search ..Giovanni

EMC Styleworks XT Technics version - costs about £200 to purchase the software. How many do you want converted Denny?

Hi.

If I remember it correctly, there was a Convert-disk supplied with the KN5000.
Yamaha and Solton was among the files that could be converted by use of the keyboard.
But.....
Years has passed by, and there are some differences in the stylefiles structure as well. As i.e. Yamaha SFF, SFF2, audio etc...
I've been using EMC, but be prepared for some, or a lot of tweaking and revoicing to make it sound reasonable well.
That's the same regardless of what way between different brands to convert.
Btw, EMC can 'batch convert' automaticly, so to convert a raw bunch is fairly quick, but then the 'hard and fun work' starts. 😊

Hi Denny,

If they are standard Yamaha Styles then I have converted most of them from many Yamaha models and they are available on my websites for almost every Technics model including KN5000. There are many hundreds available for free and hundreds more for VIP members. The reason I have both free and VIP is to try to cover my running costs (which it goes absolutely nowhere near touching so I appreciate people's support if they can smile ). All of the Styles have been tuned to the various Technics models after being converted using Styleworks, Midiworks PA and several other programs (I own numerous Technics keyboards and organs to do this). The Styles that are VIP only are ones that have taken much longer to convert or are handmade or have been converted from brands that aren't fully supported by the available conversion software. I don't say they are all perfect but if someone spots a problem with a Style I edit it and a new version is published.

I have spent many, many hundreds of hours converting and tuning the Styles over the years but unfortunately, I see people selling them on Ebay or sharing them freely which detracts from the advert income that helps to keep me running so please send people to the site for new ones because that also means they have the latest versions.

Besides the Styles I've converted and Styles that generous members such as Roger (RMepstead) have uploaded and Willum's fabulous Styles and audios that he has allowed me to share, the sites also have free user manuals to download (despite the Paypal links for non-members they are free once you have joined the sites) as well as hundreds of Styles I have retrieved from websites that have now disappeared or such as Gunnar Jonny's site with his Styles which I have re-hosted with his permission.

I will admit that my network of sites is not so easy to navigate at the moment because it is a work in progress and I work ridiculous hours in my day job, but I work on the sites every single evening and weekend to maintain them and they will improve as and when I get more time. All the information is there but members need to take a little time to read all the articles and instructions or ask for help if needed. My sites aren't a quick "join and download" system, we are a community and it does take a little effort but it pays back in droves.

There's also an App on the top menu of the sites where you can select your model or Styles series to search appropriate Styles for well over 2500 song names or type in a rhythm name me to see which model it is on or which disks to download.

Beyond that, I know Roger is always willing to help out with conversions if you have Styles you have made that need to be converted from other brands, and I do the same for members when I have time. Most of my spare time is taken with keeping the sites running with software updates and so on at the moment, there never seems to be enough time to play music after work smile

I also work with Neil at Strawberry music to make his amazing Technote magazine, video tutorials and professional Styles available. This aspect is unfortunately behind schedule due to time constraints.

The network of sites has almost 12,000 members, over 10,000 pages and more than 110,000 Technics files.

People have asked me why I run a membership system at all, why don't I just make downloads available and stop talking about it. Well, there are several reasons but the most important one is so that I can preserve information about Technics keyboards and make new Styles and other types of files available. Literally hundreds of Technics websites have disappeared including the ones run by Technics, CEES, and all of that is lost apart from what I have managed to retrieve from trawling Internet archives and with the help of the members. These sites have disappeared because they were not able to cover their costs, their owners moved on to other brands or their Styles were shared around without regard for the owner's feelings, lack of feedback and these sorts of factors. Site owners don't exist in a vacuum and the sites take many years of concerted effort to keep going. We all want to have thriving and active sites rather than sites that sit around in case someone wants to visit in a few years' time to grab some files. That is why it is important to support sites such as Synthzone by participating and generally join in when we can. Nigel does it because he loves it, we all do, and it is very satisfying to see such an active site as Synthzone with so many members active in all the forums. Long may it survive and thrive Nigel!

For my sites, I try various things to gather enthusiasm but if visitors aren't engaging with the features and the other members I must admit I lose interest in return and just work on the aspects I enjoy, I'm only human after all smile

https://technicskeyboard.com/ - the main network website
http://gj.technicskeyboards.com/ - Gunnar Jonny's site
http://songs.technicskn7000.com/ - the songs App.
https://kn5000.technicskeyboards.com/ - Bob Hendershot's KN5000 site

And more specific sites available from the top menu of every site.

I hope there's something there for you to enjoy.

Kind regards,
Mike

Yes.
I've used EMC Universal for years, and one option is to convert all styles in a folder to another in one go. EMC load and save each file automaticly.
It works OK for most models, but again, there is still some work left to do at the keyboard itself, but that's pretty much related to personal taste and needs.

If Dannys goal is to convert SX900 to KN5k, he have the advantage that he can listen to the original while adjust at KN.
The last update of EMC Univ. is 4.99, but Klaus still has a way to go if cope with newest technology using Audiodrums, bass and so on...
To be honest, I don't thik the market is large enough to keep it going on, times are changing .....

Nice to see you GJ. I agree that it must be a formidable feat for Klaus to keep going after all these years, his programs are amazing but the market seems to be shrinking rapidly such that the only support will come from the big manufacturers in the near future.

Stay safe and well!

Wow, it's long time ago I started the KN-site, 1998 I think it was.
Got good help from other knowledgeable Technics users as well. It was great fun as long as it lasted....🙄

There is still some people playing those great arrangers, and you do a great work for the Technics users Mike. 👍

Thank You everyone for the reply's, much appreciated.

Roger M, Thanks, how much US dollars would that be? I have loads of Yamaha styles &
just thought it would be nice to be able to use them on my KN5000.

Mike, Thanks, I have registered on https://technicskeyboard.com/ - the main network website, & I can get in there, but I can't sign into Gunnar Jonny's site, or
Bob Hendershot's KN5000 site. I've tried to register on each site no go it says
invalid user name or password. If I click on NEW MEMBERS - REGISTER HERE it goes to
your site & I'm already registered there, but still can't sign into those other sites

Thank You Again
Denny

Hi Denny,

When you log in at https://technicskeyboard.com/ you see a different home page than non-members. On that home page, when you are logged in, you will see a "Legacy Connection" button. Click that and follow the instructions to gain access to the legacy websites. These legacy sites will disappear in due course because I'm moving everything into the new system. I've left them live for now because having turned them off everyone missed them smile

Here's the link to EMC Styleworks Universal - http://www.emc-musicsoftware.com/Style-Works-XT/en

349 euros is about 379 US dollars at the moment. I have two or three licenses I'm not sure because I have also bought it for members who have assisted with Style conversions over the years and I can't remember how many.

There is a Technics-only version at 200 euros (around 219 dollars). However, I started off with this version and it didn't have all the Technics features I wanted so I upgraded to the Universal version. My use-case is unusual of course so it might be fine for you. - http://www.emc-musicsoftware.com/epages/...stwxt_0001-0005

Those dollar values will vary and are in fact slightly lower because I rounded them up. I'm in UK so we're in pounds here.

Best wishes,
Mike

PS when using Styleworks be prepared to spend about 30 minutes to an hour working on each Style you convert to tweak it nicely, once you learn how to use it. As with any software it also takes some spent learning to understand all the features. Don't expect the converted Style to immediately sound amazing, which is what I naively thought when I got my first license smile Klaus's software is excellent but it has its quirks, and they vary depending which model of each brand you are converting from. Originally, I understand that the software originated on Acorn computers and Klaus developed it next on PC (dos version I think), and has updated it extensively for each release of Windows for many years which is no mean feat!

Hi Denny.

As Roger offer, maybe I can help to quick convert some files too, if I knew what files you're aiming at.
But again, not all, even Yamahas, specially the last models, are not as good to convert as older ones.
Name a couple, and we'll give it a try.

Hi Denny,

Thanks for pointing this error out. It seems to have happened after a software upgrade a few days ago. I'll have it fixed shortly and let you know.

Thanks,

Guys,

What I do in this case is to use Jørgen Sørensen's Yamaha software:

http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software.htm

Or Midisoft's software:

https://www.midisoft.pl/en/

to work on the Yamaha files and take them back to a more compatible Yamaha model before converting to Technics with Styleworks, and tweaking to finalise.

Kind regards,
Mike

Denny, just to do a test I did quick batch convert T4 Ballroom and Country folders to KN5k.
I have no KN to try, and have no clou about how it sounds, this is just to see if it works at all, and if it sounds as much as it is worth spend time at.
Good luck.

Hi Denny,

I've resolved that for your account now. I really appreciate you pointing that out because it revealed a small issue which will make things easier for everyone (fixing that one now). Next, you have to complete the Legacy Connection on the home page when you're logged in. Then you'll be able to download from Gunnar's site. It will all get easier soon!.

Many thanks,
Mike

Gunnar Jonny Thanks so much for the styles, some of them work good,
others not so much. I found out that I can't change instruments of a style
from the disk, or from the custom area of the rhythm section. The only styles
that can be changed on the KN5000 are those in the preset section.
Again Thank You for your help.

Hi Denny,

Sorry, I should have explained. I've added you into the Free plan so you don't need to subscribe. You'll see there's a green tick in your profile. In the meantime, I'm working to remove that particular Paypal button and I've made changes so that members don't need to do this in future. You can go ahead to Step 2. You've helped me to find and plan a fix for a significant problem. Thanks for your patience!

Best wishes,

Hi Denny,

You have to complete the Legacy Connection to connect to the old sites. I appreciate that it's complicated, but I can't do it from my end, I don't have another way to give access because I don't want people to actively use the legacy sites without the two networks connected. I'll receive a notification once you've made the connection.

I'm trying to encourage users to make use of the new site instead of the old ones because it causes me more and more work every day unfortunately and there are hundreds of thousands of visits per month at the moment. I don't want to get to the point where I just switch them off but it's coming close to that smile

I'll retrieve your email from the user list and email you directly to help so that we aren't disturbing people here smile

Kind regards.
Mike
