Thanks, Donny ...
I find it very interesting to see how songs were created ...
When Sirius radio has the Billy Joel channel he does a lot of this ...
I imagine some other artists do also ...

Tony every song starts with an idea..
I agree each one tells of story from start to finish.
That is the kool thing about creating music vs just
playing a cover of someone elses ideas.
Writing your own songs is fun and creative....

I’ve seen that video in the past and enjoyed it. Very cool!

In the late 60s when in my teens my older cousin and her husband took us to see both The Doors and Simon&Garfunkel at Flushing Meadows Stadium in NY. Wish I knew then what I know now, that was a concert of a lifetime.

yes, but unfortunately, as I think the songwriters on this board would agree, for most musicians, performing 'covers' puts bread on the table ...

Yea I guess all these artists thought differently as they count teir millions...lol...

you can always do both too.....gig out doing covers and at home write your own songs for your own enjoyment or whatever you want to do with it. Having others perform something YOU wrote has to be very gratifying too.
Musical gifts come in so many forms. cool2

I rebelled; I played the song the way I felt it. Yes, they would rather have heard the song played like the original, but we put enough into the songs to make the parties/jobs successful. We had more job offers than we could handle.

My point,: me trying to sing a country like Don, no way, it ain’t never going to happen. Sinatra recorded LeRoy Brown; it was terrible.

Just saying, John C.

He did a few songs really well, but I always thought he was over-rated. I think women were his biggest fans...I Much preferred Deano or Sammy.

John, that was the secret to our band's success for 26 years ... We played the top songs in "our" style, which is why people hired us ... We could do that in the 60s and 70s but in the 80s things started to change- it had to sound like the record ...
