I love this set up,,

E-A7, Marantz voice rover, and V stand.

My quickest efficient set up (5 minutes set up).

And adapts to any room situation..

Today I played my second 150+ job in a row.. Senior centers!!!

This was a new place I have never been to..

When I walked in I asked the desk folks where do I set up.. thinking second floor or such... They told me in front of the piano, and motioned to this large room.. How large was it?

The player area had a grand piano, facing rows and rows of chairs, and beyond that table settings.. The clincher 3 sided balcony.

It was like a wedding in a high cost room. smile

I couldn't do a sound check, so I guessed at a setting and asked the cute girls (aids) to let me know about volumes.

At first when I pushed the volume level of the E-A7 with mic input ,I could hear it on the edge of feedback(probably the E_A7 speakers).. I realize now that if I kept the E-A7 at the original play volume and just boosted the Marantz, I would have no volume problems.

I didn't know what material to play but with my set up I can switch gears without worry..

My only problem .. a large room and no clock.. I usually know the time by my song selections... I missed today by 3 minutes to early.. I don't think anyone noticed.. grin

There isn't a better keyboard for playing senior centers wink

I played a gig today (regular there) and the crowd was probably 75 - 100 most. I had the QSCs at noon and my mixer at 0 (very high). My keys were pushed to the limit. I was told to keep turning up. That was about as loud as I like to play.

Point is: Fran, I cannot imagine an EA-7 covering that room with its speakers as the source. Need volume, body and air.. can those speakers really compete with 1000 - 2000 watts?

Fran, So why is the EA-7 best for senior centers?
Seems anything else would be as good...Like a SX-900 or a Genos or PA4X etc.....I can't imagine a room that size not needing a PA of some kind...even my 250 watt Mackie HR824's would probably do it however. I've never heard a EA-7 in person, only on demo's.

Hey guys!!!! The Marantz is a PA.. smile

As for why I think it is the best for Senior gigs.. Very flexible, Styles, Mp3's Wave , SMF's ..all in the same folder.. I save songs in sets that are timed for the hour show.

The mic input has good gain and is clear with good effects(effects turn off and on easily.) Mic volume with a dedicated knob.
Realtime parts easy to turn off/on. Easy blend of 4 parts, with sliders.

A little over 16 pounds, and the smallest 61 key footprint.

Clean sound speakers for monitors and yes they can do small rooms.

Dealer cost under $1,000.. Great features and best bang for the buck.

Here is a picture of the entrance into the room I played today.

Second photo is inside room.

No... I don't want to be a clock watcher.. As I mentioned , I have my sets timed.. I had another tune I was going to close with, and it would have put me over the hour... but I noticed the aids starting to help folks out... So I knew it was time. I was only a couple minutes early..

Personally, I would have done the 'one more song' ... To me, 3 minutes over is better than 3 minutes early ... And somebody ALWAYS notices ... JMHO

Tony I had no clock, I based it on the aids actions.

I would play another 15 minutes if they wanted grin

BTW: I stayed another ten minutes chatting with folks.
