One of rocks greatest drummers has left us. What a legacy he left behind. He was a huge inspiration for sure. He passed away this week after a three year battle with brain cancer.

Here's Rush's 1976 hit, Tom Sawyer. Besides being a master drummer, Neil Peart was the band's lyricist too. R.I. P.

I've been a HUGE Rush fan since high school. I've seen them live over 20 times! I was always amazed how many things Neil could play at the same time. And sing !!!!!!!!

Doing something in the studio is way different than doing it live! Many band's songs are so processed or overdubbed they don't sound as full when live. Watching only 3 musicians create so much music on stage is something I will never forget.

I might add that Rush was one of the first bands to embrace MIDI in the early 80s. So much of their music was keyboard driven they were a natural for the power of MIDI.

Thank you Neil Peart !!! RIP

I don't know any other drummers that wrote most of the songs for a band that didn't even sing. He was pretty special in his genre.
