HA HA good one Randy, "I Can See Clearly Now." As others have written they are both great boards and it's a matter of taste.

He started the video stating he had to rethink the previous one because of all the clamor from the Yammy people, and then, when he had one, decided differently. I have the Pa4x, and would have an SX900 were it not for the fact that I have the S970, and don't see a compelling reason to give it up.

Bernie, you deserve it,--- it will bring pleasure, and renew interest. I am doing thibgs that I never did before, something about the keyboard that invites me to add to what I know. I would say, I have become more creative.

Bernie, I still smile each day after I play. I made a cometment to learn every part of the keyboard --- the same songs are now sounding better.

Have you tried one yet?

Bernie - Use midi from the PA4x keys into your 970 - see if the sounds come to life, like the SX does.

Bernie, I'm on the same page with other commenters especially John C. I have a Pa4x, had the s970 and I'm really impressed with the sound and what a great upgrade it is to the sx900

Hi Bernie,
If in doubt, try and get to see one. Only way you’ll know for sure if it’s worth it , to you.

I think a few of the members had s970’s , and haven’t regretted the swap.

I was so excited to get my PA1000 that I waited extra long for it, but I was very disappointed in it. The only upgrade I appreciated was the touchscreen. My PA900 was doing just great till I opened it up and messed up the upper keys, somehow. The 1k was not a logical upgrade for me, so I traded out of tha. The SX is definitely an upgrade for me, and gives me different sonic colors, as well. It's nice having a second library at hand in the studio.
No regrets here.

Interesting vid....I had a Korg PA2XPRO and it sure did have lots of pro features especially programming and MIDI capabilities. Some of the sounds were really good too, and some not....but mostly I eas not inspired, based on the kind of music I like, the styles did not work for me. I think with so many styles available for Yamaha that is one big deal for me.
They are both outstanding boards, just in different ways...nice to have the choice.
That's what I hear him saying too.

I too had the S970 and loved it! Have to say the upgrade was worth it to me. To me, the drums sound more "live" and the sounds are super. Though I have yet to begin exploiting the Assignable buttons, I can clearly see the utility of them and will definitely be employing them to simplify use of the board. Speakers sound better too! Still a lot more for me to learn but I am a happy SX900 camper!
