It’s here, and I love it. Two hours when it came, and 2 to 3am this morning. I think I was dreaming how I would be playing one of my old special songs last night. (smile)

My MO, is to learn enough to play one song with my settings. After that I will listen to the styles, and not change anything. Just spend time on some of the features I need now. Then I will enjoy playing, spending time in learning every feature that Yamaha has put in the keyboard. I enjoy learning, so what is ahead will be another Joy.

I believe what Gary has said, rephrased – You’ll love me when you get to know me.
Opinion; The Sx900, and all that it offers, comes the closest to the keyboard I have used for most of my career; The Kn7000. It’s that and more. When I play, I can be me again.

For performing the Korg Pa4x still rules. Will I buy a Pa5x, I’m not telling – but the Sx900 will be my main keyboard.

I will share after I go through the learning curve. Is the Sx900 perfect? No! But neither am I so we will get along very well.

A happy Camper, John C.

Enjoy your new toy John congrats....
does this mean your playing out again too or?
If you like the way yamaha does it maybe you will dump the KORG Pa4x and get a Genos also...good luck.

Nice John, Look forward to your comments, and my SX-900 arrival next week. I also once had a Technics KN-7000. That keyboard was way ahead of it's time, and I miss it, good to hear that the SX-900 reminds you of that keyboard.

Enjoy

Congrats John and welcome aboard the good ship SX900! Great keyboard - the more time you spend with it, the more cool things you find out about it! Have fun!

John, I'm glad to hear it arrived safely. I put a couple of CDs in the box; hope they made it intact.

Larry, I remember you from the Technic days. And yes, the Sx900 is very close to the Kn7 in many ways, especially the sounds of the instruments. Piano and Trumpet were my favorites, both are equally good in the Sx, if not better.

Take care, John C.

Donny, the Korg Pa4x and Pa1000 are gone. And no Genos for me.

Randy, thank you, it’s a great keyboard.

Thanks Steve you’re always right there, glad you’re here.

Don, all safe and in good shape. I could not find the CDs. I did not throw anything out. Will give it another look tomorrow.

Thanks, John C

Larry, Way to go and congratulations on the SX900! Great choice!

John aka Bruno make sure you get some sleep in between playing and that applies to all of you with your new toys.

Eddie, I learned that it is going to take time to understand the new keyboard. A good part of the time will be used is how I want to sue what I have been given.

This is fun, John C.

Hi Larry,
Has me intrigued was it the Technics forum I remember you from? For some strange reason I associated you with Yamaha and an old yahoo styles group run by a fellow called Bob, if I remember correctly. Reasonably sure that’s where I first met Gary.

Bob Gelman started the Yahoo Yamaha arranger group WAY back. Actually it was two groups; one for styles, one for songs. I had the honor of doing the first song posted, Honky Tonk. As the new social media and groups such as PSR Tutorial became popular the two groups lost popularity and dwindled down to nearly nothing.
At the time though, it was the place to go to share experiences for Yamaha arrangers.

What, that bubbling enthusiasm for styles , the prattling , used to do a lot of that. I was always in total awe of members who could actually play. They were fun days.

Rikki, yes I was in that old Yahoo group, and I was into the Technics forum here on the SZ. Not sure if you were part of Bebops 20 for 1 Technics group that shared songs via email. Those were the good ol days

The Technics jams we had were the best. Playing, teaching and having a great time. The Technics jams brought many of us together, players like Bebop, Roger (England), Bernie, and the list goes on.

“Those were the days my friends, I thought they’d never end”

It seems like yesterday, John C.

Last one I hosted, about 30 people said they were coming or were trying to come. Six showed up from out of town, plus a few locals.
