Should be very easy . . .A free dinner at Ernest's for the first correct answer. Of course you have to get to Louisiana to collect! smile

May guess is Roland. But either way, sounds great due to the player/ vocalist!

C'mon down DNJ, your crawfish pie is waiting for you! The style was an audio drum style on the S970.

You know, I just listened to that song again, and I may be wrong about the keyboard. Sure sounds like a Ketron style. I had both during that time. No wonder it was hard to guess since I'm not certain myself.
Randy gets a dinner too!
I will try to research more. Not that it REALLY matters except to demonstrate the quality of all modern arrangers.

Yes, I found the original file and it was Ketron SD7. I am sorry for the confusion. Seemed like a good question but I should have know the answer!
The things that got me thinking were the lack of automatic "help" with the guitar bends, and the uneven volume in the breaks, variation transitions and ending.
Because the drums sounded so real, I thought it was an audio style, and it was, but not Yamaha.

I ruled out the s970, PaX Korg series, I didn't have the SD7 long enough to make a call so since the style seemed unfamiliar I took a shot at Roland.

Yee Haa!!! My ears did not fail me.... It was the guitar that swayed me to SD7. Not sure when I can get to Shreveport, but will definitely stop in to hear Don doing his usual terrific work, regardless of the board! Thanks for the challenge Don - I rarely win things, so a musical one is even sweeter!

I can only surmise it isn't a Yammie... LOL! But that guy pickin' and singin' (probably grinning, too) would sound good with a Kazoo and Washboard. I really enjoy "old standards" and this one is now enshrined in the Don Mason Music Hall of Fame.

I enjoyed the night we spent at the nearby casino and dined on frog legs, jumbo shrimp, crab, and gumbo - OH YEAH! Most of all, though, I enjoyed the company of Don and Susan, and Deane Peters and his lovely wife who could be a double for Sarah Palin.

How I wish I could find enough strength for another visit to Bossier City. smile

I won a dinner from Don a couple of years ago...similar contest. But, getting to Ernest's from S. Florida is a major trip. Hey Don, if I order a "take out" from Ernest's, can you send it to me?

We are blessed with great food. Tonight Ernest prepared for me blackened trout with crawfish and cream sauce topping, after a salad that consisted of tomato, lettuce, crabmeat and marinade. And of course fresh hot buttered bread. Dessert was strawberry cheesecake but I declined, in hopes of getting out of the building without another heart attack. I did have a rare alcoholic beverage, Coffee San Pedro, with whipped cream topping.
