I will allow myself to quote myself, the message I posted on April, 11

My point is that Tyros and Motif got touchscreens and now it’s PSR’s turn. For designers and engineers it’s the biggest change in the line, because PSR has for ages stayed practically the same in regard of user interface. But today a screen which cannot be touched is obsolete. Will Yamaha risk it and release the next PSR with this obvious contradiction? I doubt it. And changing user interface means the whole rethinking of the product. But they have done it already with the Tyros. So now it’s about eliminating some of Genos’s features and adding speakers.

Will it keep the name “PSR”? I don’t know. I expect it may be something like PSR-X900. It should be a fresh start.

Also it makes sense that this new one will be equipped with bluetooth.

I did a version with inverted colors because I really wanted something brighter than black.

So I can be surprised by how not surprised I am. In general Yamaha keeps the formula which has been working for years making the changes which are too risky not to make.

This keyboard is going to be rather enjoyable. In the same time, it’s still pretty heavy and bulky to carry around (due to a powerful sound system), it is too short to replace a digital piano; and the appearance is, we can say, geeky; I mean, the look is quite pragmatic – not a bad thing, but we can argue that it doesn’t really have a “homey feeling”.

My point is, as it has been for years, that there’s a gap, maybe for a reason, in the line. The missing item is a Yamaha NP-V80, but with a better inside, closer to Casio PX-560.

In a modern world, I’m afraid, even SX900 is going to be something overpriced, oversized and overweight, but there won’t be a real alternative to its sounds and styles.

Although, an updated version of S670 is probably going to be a real winner in the market, unless Yamaha decides not to let it happen.

PS: No mention of vocal harmonizer. Probably VH2.

You're welcome, JM!

I'm hoping the sound is better than the PSR-S975's, which was already very good.

Knowing Yamaha, I believe it will be. smile

Two things that are not on the Genos

- a chord looper (which is the longg awaited chord sequencer i guess)
- bluetooth audio

Mike, nothing wrong with the VH2 once you learn how to tune it to your vocals. I was really impressed when I recorded Halauah a few weeks ago - it did a much better job than my Harmony-M.

Good luck,

Gary cool

Yamaha has always been the best at "Hype." Their marketing approach is "create mass hysteria" lol
(and we ALL fall for it, each time)

The keyboard that really helped amplify that hype for me was the Genos, that was innovation.
But the SX-900... I dunno
If there really comes an SX-300 with the same UI for roughly the price of the S-775 now, sure i'll buy it But if it's just the SX-7and900 ? I'll pas.

All the Country styles are in the first, Pop&Rock, bank.
