Donny, same chords I learned many years ago when I first began playing a guitar. Lots of great songs utilize those chords, especially country music.

I V vi IV ( 1, 5, 6, 4)

When I play with guitar players and even horn players we speak in terms of numbers.
Makes things easier especially if you ever transpose your KB, playing with guitar players that use non standard tuning, or horns like tenor, alto, trumpet, clarinet....

I’ve head that studio players in Nashville use the number system too. How about you?

The numbers system came into play long after I learned chords, which was 1945. I picked up my first guitar in 1952, though.

The Nashville Number System is a method of transcribing music by denoting the scale degree on which a chord is built. It was developed by Neal Matthews in the late 1950s as a simplified system for The Jordanaires to use in the studio and further developed by Charlie McCoy.

Good system to use for quick transposing. I've heard it was the standard way to go in many studios.
