Donny...I think it was Vangelis that had an E-80 on the buy and sell forum a few years back. If I recall...whoever he was selling it for only wanted $500. Should have grabbed it at that time.

Had one. Nice for the time. Weight more than 50 pounds. My friend semilivemusic dropped on concrete and didn't even dent it.

That must have been the reason for the cheap price. $500 for the keyboard...$1500 for the trailer.

Donny, wasn’t the E-80 pretty much a 61 key version with some funky onboard speakers version of the G70. (I know Fran is the expert on this topic)

I just remember on the original demo...the orchestral demo had a very robotic timpani roll, which was kind of a turn off.

The guitar software was pretty cool though.

Actually it was a MINT Technics KN6000 for 500 bucks, I sold the E80 for 900 but not here on SZ but on Ebay, E80 is a killer board but too heavy for me, and the shipping weight? OUCH! I bought the EA-7 again because although I am a diehard KORG fan I can't live without the Roland sound it's just a very steep learning curve to learn and the user manual doesn't help.

The E80 never achieved the standing of the G70 as it couldn’t produce the live sound and flexibility that the G70 had.
The failure of the E80 (In sales terms) is one of the reasons that Roland pulled the plug on high end arrangers.

Bill, didn’t Roland have that strange marketing approach for the E series arrangers. They were only marketed through the organ division. Seems that the E50 and E60 would have done better through the regular music store division.
