Well they didn't mind selling Tyros for 5K plus without major updates. I think your first point is closer to the truth. They have seen the great updates that Korg does and are wisely trying to compete.

Or just following how they handled Montage over the last few years with several features and content updates...

And with the CP88 they even announced contious content updates at the release event.

I can’t say for sure but the save and save as command has been removed. The terminology has changed. I’m not sure what he’s talking about when he refiners to the CP series, I’m not familiar with that series.
