How many users here use any sort of column PA systems (like the Bose Compact etc).Im thinking of purchasing a small setup for bars and restaurant gigs. there's loads to choose from so im just curious as to how many people here use those sort of systems.

I have used the Bose Compact for years, and it's big brother, years before that. Never a problem.

I would recommend the Maui series from LD systems. I've been using the Maui 11 for 5 years with no problems; the Maui 5 is a closer comparison to the Bose compact without the Bose price.

I too have used the Bose L1 Compact the past 10 years and also the larger Bose system before that and never experienced any issues. If you are playing small venues I would also look at the new Bose S1 Pro.

Thanks Bernie, do you sing and play ?. The bose L1 compact seems to be very highly regarded

I suppose being a guy that has always use a "speaker" beside him, i kind of have the mind set that i will be loosing quality/power but of course i know from your reply's and from talking with other musicians who use such systems that this i not correct. I mainly do solo gigs, bars/lounges and restaurants with my Ketron and vocals.
these systems seem so unobtrusive/easy to carry and easy to setup.

Yes, I do both with good results, but admit I use my SpaceStation v3 more because of it's stereo capabilities and equal ease of transport.

I’ve been using Bose line array systems since they were introduced. Worth mentioning perhaps, is the Bose service and support is the best in the business. On par with the support AJ gives for the Ketron product line.

Jerry,
you are right. Bose often replaces equipment with no questions ask. They are really into pleasing their customers.

Hi. I play midi accordion with an Audya4. I recently purchased an LD Systems Maui 11 g2 and it sounds superb. I do not play professionally but I always try to buy decent equipment and this is excellent.
If you are going to be using to take to gigs it will be so easy to transport.
The transport bags are a bit expensive For what they are but a neccessity to protect your system in transit.
I had a demo of the Maui 11 & the Maui 28 and for me and my equipment the 11 sounded crisper & clearer than the 28.It is only 1000w compared to 2000w on the 28 but still packs a punch and in my opinion sounds great.
I cannot compare it to the Bose as I have not heard the Bose.
Before I even tried to demo the Maui, I looked on various web sites on different products within a price range and the Maui seemed to be the stand out. Hope this helps.

I’ve been using 2 Turbo 1000 sound for a couple of years with Audya 5 or Genos with vocals, happy with it,

I use 2 Maui 11's with midi accordion thru ketron sd4 and wersi pegasus 2+ modules, and my Yamaha arranger keyboard for last 5 years. They sound fantastic and can cover any inside job and some outdoor ones.
