6 or even 7 years after the release of the Krome, Korg is introducing the Krome EX now.
With about the same waveROM size (4GB) with some new sounds, obviously the same poor keybeds, and again, no expandibility of the samples.
Not even remotely an alternative for the MODX for most musicians, I guess.

Not surprising they all have to get rid of old parts somehow...
put a little lipstick on it and resell as the latest and greatest.

Korg has not put much development time in these instruments after their release (kronos/krome/kross)

They spend their time on the volca and minilogue/prologue

Is this another sign synthworkstations are a thing of the past..
The new kronos ES, is another rebranded kronos..

That's true. Taking the example of the husband of one of my piano students, a medical doctor who makes a lot of music for himself - he's not interested in hardware synths at all, all he has is a cheap Yamaha P-115, connected to an iPad and maybe a laptop.
Even for me, I'm more a fan of hardware ROMplers, the improvements in the availability of good IOS libraries such as iSymphonic make it less and less important to have a big collection of samples in my hardware instruments.

BTW, I hate lipstick and makeup in general, they could never arouse my interest with changes in the facade without any substance. Samples are substance to me with synthesizers. But obviously some are crazy about colours, so they are releasing these toy Kross models as well... (scroll down Korg website)

I've seen performers dressed in gold lame jackets, fluorescent shirts, monkey suits, glittered hair, etc. Now, I guess keyboards get their turn.:)
