I managed to get hold of a Roland E80 for a very good price.
I am blown away with how good this keyboard sounds for the age of it.

I am however having a problem getting my piano style pedals to work as a sustain pedal (plugged ito the hold input)

One even has a polarity switch on the underside of the pedal but this does not work either.

It is not the input because an ordinary stop start pedal does work as a sustain pedal in this input but I use this pedal as a start stop.

I have tried holding the pedal down whilst turning the keyboard on with no luck (sometimes it is reverse polarity sometimes no function at all)

I have been unable to find any further help in the manual or on line.

Is there someone who has a solution?

Thanks in advance ...... John.

Try using the other pedal input jack and assign to "hold".. If you have the same results... the best solution... use the correct pedal..

Fran .... Thanks for the advice but I had already tried that.
I was hoping for a fix rather than buy a new sutain pedal as I already have two ..... thanks for the reply though.

John what make pedal are you trying to use? Is it a multi pedal (3 pedals , one connection)? Is it a mono or stereo connector?

Hi Fran
Both single pedals.
One pedal is Kurzweil and the other is M Gear.
Both are mono jacks.
Cheers.
John.

John you can do a hardwire alteration and physically reverse the polarity via rewiring..

Hold and Expression pedals use stereo connectors; Control pedal uses mono connector.
At least that is the case on EA7 and I suppose nothing has changed, since the same pedals are listed as options.

Expression jack is stereo, but the hold jack is mono.
The DP10 is stereo because it is compatible to half damper connection.
DP2 is mono.

The E80 manual reccomends either a DP-2,DP-6 or a BOSS FS-5U
footswitch connected to the pedal hold socket.
